CATHOLIC FEDERATION
MATAMATA. (From an occasional correspondent.) Mr. F. G. J. Temm, of the Auckland diocesan executive of the Catholic Federation, visited Matamata last week, and delivered a lecture on Federation matters on Friday evening. Mr. P. Quinlan, president of the branch, presided. Mr. Temm spoke at some length, and in an able manner explained the objects of the Federation and the good work it had done in this Dominion. At the conclusion of the address Mr. Quinlan moved the following resolution—' That we pledge ourselves to do our best to support the Federation.' This was seconded by Mr, J. Harbidge, and carried unanimously. Mr. M. Woods, in moving a hearty vote of thanks to Mr. Temm, for his address, paid a tribute to Mr. Temm's work since he had been connected with the Federation. The resolution was carried with acclamation. Mr. Temm left the following day for Rotorua. ROTORUA. j '' (From an occasional correspondent.) Mr. F. G. Temm, of Auckland, addressed a meeting of parishioners on the aims and objects of the Catholic Federation in the schoolroom on September 26. "There was a very large attendance, over which Rev. Father Kreymborg presided. Mr. Temm dealt with the good work done by the Catholic Federation throughout New Zealand, and showed that the aims and objects of the organisation were such as to command the wholehearted support of all Catholics.
A vote of thanks to Mr. Temm was proposed^by; Mr. D. Geany, seconded by Father J. • Devolder, ; and carried by _ acclamation.' < r -"•■■ 5 - -> Rev. Father B. Kreymborg proposed that a branch of the Catholic Federation be established in Rotorua. This was seconded by Mr. Sloan, and carried unanimously. The following officers were elected: dent, Rev. Father 8.. ' Kreymborg; vice-presidents, Messrs. Cann and Sloan; secretary, Miss K. Geany; treasurer, Rev. Father J. Devolder; committee—Miss L. Dwyer, Messrs. Beasly, Farren, Geany, King, Kravis, Ryan, and Aprahama Wiari. A vote of thanks to the president was proposed by Mr.. Temm, seconded by Mr. Beasly, and carried unanimously. A committee meeting, at which Father Kreymborg presided, was held on October 3 in the schoolroom. All the members showed a keen interest in the business, and there is every prospect that the branch will be a success in every way.
