A pretty and quiet wedding took place in St. Mary’s Church, Gisborne, on Wednesday, July 14, the contracting parties being Miss Susan Florence Robertson, of Gisborne, and Mr. John Skiffington, of South Invercargill. The bride was prettily attired in white silk, covered with rich lace, and wore the usual veil with orange blossoms. She carried a beautiful bouquet of roses. The bridesmaid was Miss May Hayes, who also cat i led a beautiful bouquet. The bridegroom was accompanied by Mr. Richards, who performed the duties of best man in a most capable manner. The was given away by Mr. II . C. Davie, and the Rev. Father Lane performed the ceremony. A large number of friends were present at the ceremony, and the happy couple were the recipients of many good wishes for their future happiness. The party assembled at Mr. Findlay s tea rooms, where afternoon tea was partaken of. The party then drove to Mr. and Airs. Wellington’s home, where later on the wedding breakfast was°held, the table being beautifully and artistically arranged. In the centre was a huge wedding cake, on the top of which was hung a pretty wedding-bell. Later a social evening was held. The party broke up with three hearty cheers, and the singing of ‘ Auld lang syne.’
