Hamilton

(From our own correspondent.)

June 26.

At a meeting of the Children of Mary last Sunday, it was decided to hold a monthly social in the parish hall in aid of their library. A strong committee was formed, consisting of Misses Kate Flynn, Teresa McCarthy, G. Casey, K. Fraser, and M. O’Connor.

The usual weekly meeting of St. Mary’s Young Men’s Club on June 12 consisted of a debate, the subject being ‘Should bachelors be taxed?’ Mr. M. O’Leary led for the affirmative, and Mr. L. O’Malley championed the negative side. Mr. O’Leary was supported by Messrs. J. A. Hair and T. Kelly, and Mr. O’Malley by Messrs. M. McCarthy and E. V. McGarrigle. After a keen discussion the affirmative side was declared the winners on the casting vote of the chairman, the Very Rev. Dean Darby.
