OBITUARY
MRS. BRIDGET O’MALLEY, "LINWOOD. There passed away at her residence, 39 Travers street, Linwood, Christchurch, on January 17, 1914, Bridget, widow of John O’Malley. The deceased lady, who was a native of Headford, County Galway, Ireland, arrived in Dunedin in the ship.Pla'ddi in the early sixties. She married in 1865, her late husband being then a member of the Dunedin Police Force, After a few years spent principally in the Dunstan district she came to Canterbury, in different parts of which she had resided ever since. She had been more or less an invalid for a number of years, and she bore her sufferings with great patience and resignation. Her quiet, unassuming, yet warm-hearted manner, and kindly disposition, won for. her the love and esteem of a very wide circle of acquaintances. A Requiem Mass was celebrated at the Cathedral at 7 , o’clock on Tuesday morning, Very Rev. Chancellor Price officiating. Mass was served by -her two nephews and grandson. After this the body, was taken by train to Geraldine, and after a short service in the church by Very Rev. Dean Bowers, who also officiated at the graveside, it was interred in the Geraldine Cemetery beside her late husband, who predeceased her some eight years ago. Members of the Hibernian Society (Geraldine) acted as pall-bearers. Her family who are left to mourn the loss of a loving and faithful mother consist of Mrs. D. Mullaue (Miller’s Flat), Miss Mary O’Malley (Christchurch), Mr.- Fred O’Mallev (Amuri), Mr. Ernest O’Malley (Geraldine), Mr. Alfred O’Malley (Christchurch). A brother. Mr. Martin Donohue (Papanui) also survives her.—R.I.P.
