ST. MARY’S CLUB, HOKITIKA

(From the club correspondent.) January 11. A very pleasant function took place in St. Mary’s Club rooms on Monday evening, when a presentation was made to Mr. J. Hanrahan, who has been transferred to Invercargill. The Rev. Father Clancy, who mad© the presentation, which consisted of a travelling bag, spoke in eulogistic terms of Mr. Hanrahan’s services to St. Mary’s Club. He also expressed the regret which he and the members felt at the loss they were about to sustain, and made special reference to the good work he did during the late competitions. Messrs. Warren, Wormington, Dwan, Downey, and McCarthy also expressed their regret at his departure from amongst them. Mr. Hanrahan, speaking in feeling terms, sincerely thanked his friends for the nice proof of their esteem. He was sorry he was going, but it was gratifying to know he was leaving behind him so many friends with whom he had been associated for so many years.
