O'CONNOR—McGRATH. (From our Palmerston North correspondent.). "., A quiet but pretty wedding -was celebrated in St :- : : Patrick's Church, Palmerston North, on. October. 14, the contracting parties being Miss Violet; Louisa Mc- ; Grath, - second daughter >of „..the late Michael Henry McGrath, of ; Wellington, and Mrs. McGrath, ..: of " Orewa," College street, Palmerston North, and Mr. Patrick O'Connor; eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice O'Connor, The Terrace, Wellington. The Rev. Father Costello officiated at the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her •brother; Mr. C. McGrath, was. attired in a soft satin gown draped and trimmed with real point lace. The bride also wore a veil that was worn by her mother at the latter's wedding, and. the usual spray of orange blossoms, and carried a beautiful spray of freesias. Miss Kate McGrath . (sister of the bride) and Miss Ethel Carter attended the bride. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr. J. O'Connor, as best man, and Mr. John Power, of Feilding,' as groomsman.; The bride's gift to the bridegroom was a gold sovereign case, and the bridegroom's gift to the bride was "a handsome travelling companion. The bridesmaids each wore gold necklets and pendants, set with peridots, the gift of the bridegroom. As the bridal party'left the church, the Wedding March'; was played by Mr. S. Ciminb.... After the ceremony a : private reception was held at ' Orewa, t the residence of the bride's mother. Later in the afternoon the happy couple left for a motor tour to Rotorua. The presents received were both numerous and costly, and came from as far' as England, among them; being a set of silver fish knives and forks from the staff of Messrs. O'Connor and Tydeman, a large steel engraving in oak frame from the local telephone exchange,. of which the bride was a member, and a handsome ivory-bound prayerbook from the Children of Mary.. Several cheques were numbered amongst the presents.
