Westport
(From our own correspondent.) , November 9. During a recent visit for the purpose of promoting the interests of the St. Vincent de Paul Society the Very Rev. Dean Regnault, S.M. (Provincial), succeeded in establishing a conference of the society with a membership of thirty active members in Westport. A ladies' guild with a similar membership, has since been formed, and much good should result from the work of the two branches of this valuable organisation. The following is the result of the recent examination by the representative of the Royal Academy of Music at Westport and Reefton respectively : —Local centre.—lntermediate pianoforte— Kelpe, ' 103. Green, 113. Lower division school —N. Crabb, 127; M. Parsons, 113. .Primary division, singing L. Carmine, 130 (distinction). Pianoforte Misses E. O’Brien and M. Harris, each 130 (distinction); M. Simpson, 123; W. Scarlet, 121. All of the above are pupils of the Sisters of Mercy, and the results bear eloquent testimony to the work of these gifted teachers.
