Messrs. Donald Reid and Co. (Limited) report :—: — We held our weekly auction sale of grain and produce at our stores on Monday. There was a good attendance of buyers, and all lines on offer met with fair competition, prices in nearly all cases being fully equal to late quotations. Values rules as under :—: — Oats. — Prime milling and bright feed lines are in fair demand. There is only a limited outlet, and all oats of these descriptions coming forward find ready sale on arrival. Medium and inferior qualities have little attention from buyers, and are extremely difficult to place. We quote : Prim* milling, 2s 8d to 2s 9d ; good to best feed, 2s 7d to 2s 8d ; medium to good, 2s 4d to 2s 6d ; inferior, 2» to 2s 3d per bushel (sacks extra). Wheat. — There is strong inquiry for prime milling samples of all classes, but locally the quantity on offer is extremely small Medium quality has some attention from exporters, but is for the most part neglected by local millers. Fowl wheat is \ery scarce, and commands ready sale at satisfactory prices. We quote : Choice milling velvet, 4s 6d to 4s 8d ; prime milling, 4s 3d to 4s 6d ; medium to good, 3s 8d to 4s , best whole foul wheat, 3s 4d to 3s 6d ; medium, 3s to 3s 3d per bushel (sacks extra). Potatoes. — The local demand has absorbed ne."Hv oil late arrivals, and late values for all sorts are won maintained. We quote : Prime Derwents, £4 to £4 5s ; extra good, to £4 7s 6d ; medium and other sorts, £3 to £3 15s per ton (bags in). Chaff — Last week's heavy arrivals have made buyers somewhat chary of purchasing freely. Stocks, however, feave moved off at very little reduction in prices, and, with the prospect of shorter supplies, prices to day are firm at values fully equal to late quotations. We quote: Prime to choice oaten sheaf, £5 to £5 5s ; medium to good, #4 5s to £4 15s ; inferior and straw chaff, £2 5s to £3 per ton (bags extra). Straw. — The market is fully supplied. V> quote : £1 15s for best straw, pressed.
