Last Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday was quite a gay and festive time for the pupils attending St. Mary's schools. A series of entertainments had been arranged by the good Sisters in honor of the Very Rev. Dean Mahoney 's feast day. On Monday the boys gave an entertainment in St. Mary's Hall, which was crowded with their parents and friends. The first part of the programme, consisting of songs and recitations, was very pleasing. The second part consisted of a farce entitled ' Furnished Apartments,' in which five of the boys took part. In the evening an entertainment was held at the orphanage, when a number of little ones acquitted themselves remarkably well in songs and recitations, especially in a festal song. After the singing of this a number of the children presented Dean Mahoney with vases of beautiful wax flowers made by the Sisters and pupils The entertainment concluded with a drama entitled a ' Love of Bonnets,' which was very creditably performed by some of the older girls. On Tuesday, at the Convent Hiprh school, ' Little Lord Fauntleroy ' waa produced by the pupils of the High school.
On Wednesday a tea party was held in St. Mary's Hall, at which the orphans and all the children attending the convent schools, over 300 in all, wers present, and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The tea party was organised by a committee of ladies, consisting of the following : — Mesdames Pratt, Crisp, S. Frank, Vaughan, and Misses Frank (4), Young, and Scott. Later on a lantern exhibition was given, which was greatly enjoyed by the children. After the entertainment the Very Rev. Dean Mahoney thanked all those who had contributed to the children's pleasures. He also took the opportunity of presenting little Doris Roughton with a handsome prayer book in recognition of the able manner in which she took-part in the play on the previous day, [This letter arrived too late for insertion in our last issue.]
