On Sunday morning last the Rev. Father M'Manus celebrated Mas" at Aldington, and the church was crowded on the occasion. The architect. Mr. A. W. Fielder has already invited tenders for the erection of a new church in the suburb, and on the return of the Rev. Father Servajean from the Webt Coast, where he has gone fora few days in order to recruit his health, the work will at once be commenced. Active preparations are also being made for the erection of a new church at Halswell, and tor this building the Rev. Father Servajean himsulf has collected a handsome sum of money in the district.
On Sunday last the Rev. Father Goggan sang the High Mass at St. Mary's and at Vespers in the evening the Rev. Father Foley of New Headford preached an instructive and eloquent sermon on the privileges and dignity of the Blessed Virgin. As has already been announced, his Grace the Archbishop of Wellington will lay the foundation-stone of the new church at Hornby on Sunday next, and great preparations are being made for the important event.
