A. Todd, on behalf of tbe The New Zealand Land AssociatiqkLuiietb, report for week ending August 9, as follows .—. —

Store Cattle— There is no perceptible change in the position of the market since we last reported. The business is on a very moderate scale, and until well on into the spring we hardly expect to meet with very strong inquiry. A moderate demand exists even now, but there are very few offering.

Store Sheep—There are do transactions of any consequence now coming under notice. Odd lines of mixed sorts are occasionally finding purchasers, who, however, are less inclined to give prices equal to those ruling earlier.

Sheepek ins— These continue to command very good attention, and although prices ruling show no advancs late values are pretty well maintained. Oar auction sale was well attended on Tuesday, all the members in the trade being present and competing spiritedly for all sorts. Best green crotsbreds fetch 5s to 5s 3d ; choice, 5a 6d ; medium to good, 3s 9d to 4s lOd ; green merino?, 2s 4d to 4s 3d ; country dry crossbreds, inferior to medium, la 101 to 3a lOd ; do do merino, Is 7d to 2s 8d ; full-woolled crossbreds, good, 4s to 4s lid ; best do, 5s to 6s 5d ; do do merino, good, 2s 9d to 3a 9d ; best, 3a lOd to 5§ 4d ; dry pelts, 2d to 1b 6d each.

Rabbitskins — The market remains firm at late quotation?, and a very brißk demand existing. All catalogues coming to band are spirited ly competed for at auction. Our catalogue this week, although a lengthly one and comprising several lots of very good mixed bucks and doe ekins, was somewhat destitute of anything choice. We quote — Best winter grey doe skins, Is 4d to la 4sd (extra choice, to Jd more) ; bucks and does mixed, Is 3£d to Is 4d ; bucks, Is 31 to la 3£d ; medium to good, la Id to Is 2^d ; autumn, lOd to Is Id ; summer, 8d to 9d ; sucker?, balf-grown, and inferior, 3d to 7^l per lb, Hides — A fair demand continues to be experienced for these The supply of light hides is in excess of requirements, while the number of heavy weights coming forward is barely sufficient for trade purposes. All arrivals, however, are saleable at late quotations, say, for heavy hides, 2d to 2sd ; extra do, 2Jd to 3d ; medium, lsd to IJd ; inferior to medium, Id to l£d per lb. Tallow does Dot appear to be more than sufficient for requirements, the local demand being quite sufficient to absorb all coming forward. Quotations— For best renders 1 mutton, 21s 6d to 22a 6d ; medium to good, 13a 6d to 20s 6d ; inferior to medium, 14s 6d to 17a 6d. Wheat — Only a limited business has transpired during the week, transactions having been few and unimportant. Oats — The business done in these during the past week has been less extensile and chiefly confined to purchases for local requirements. The quantity offering is within very moderate limits and sellers are not Qiepostd to quit except at an advance on late quo'ations, which were secured by us during the week.
