Universal Labour Exchange, report for the week ending Thursday, 30th March, as follows:— We have been Very busy during the week, especially in engaging men for railway works for North Island, also for local lines ; we still require 100 good men, wages, 7s to Ds per day. Ploughmen are now enquired for at £52 to £55 ; general farm hands that can milk get good wages ; we have placed a good number of shep v erds during the week at £60 ; gardeners, £65 ; couples, dull to get off at £60 to £75 and foubd ; general han'ln, grooms, and milkers, 20s ; boys, 5s to 10s ; station cook?, 25s ; blacksmiths. 30s ; enginedrivers, 30s ; hotel men bar, 25s to 40s ; cooks, 30s to 40s ; waiters, boots, night poiters, 20s to 125s per week ami found ; men — bush, railway and contract work, 78 to '9s; carpenters,"Bs to 10s; blacksmiths, 10s; masons, bricklayers, platter rs^lOs to rZs ■ per day; female servants in better supply ; cook. 0s to 30s ; barmaid*. 20s to 30s ; waitresses, housemaids, kiichcumaids, gencial sirvants, 12s to los ; nurscgirls, 5s to 10s ; saleswomen. 30s per week ; housekeepers and governesses, £10 to £5C per annum.
