PERSONS WANTED

Whangarei. —On or about 17th instant, on warrant for theft of a diamond ring (recovered), value £SO, the property of Andrew Ernest Dobbs, 1 Cairnfield Road, James Newald, alias Newall, age fifty five, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer and clerk, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, brown hair turning grey, grey eyes, clasped hands, heart, flower, and “ True Love,” &c., on right upper arm, heart, &c., on left forearm ; usually wears a blue suit and brown overcoat (no hat); erect gait. He boarded with complainant for about two months, but he disappeared on 17th instant after which it was discovered that the ring had been stolen. Auckland.— Jellicoe Kitchener Hill, failing to maintain ( (see Police Gazette, 1944, page 519), is identical with Albert J. Hill who left this Dominion on 3rd February last as a member of the crew of the ship “ Port Darwin.”

About 12th May last complainant loaned him the wheelbarrow, and on 9th instant it was found in possession of two drainlayers who stated that they purchased it from offender for £3 about the 10th ultimo.'
