PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland.— escaping from the Avondale Mental Hospital on the instant, .Walter Lloyd Townsend, age twenty, height, 5 ft. 6 in., native of New Zealand j~strong build, sallow complexion, dark hair; wearing a dark tweed suit and black shoes. He was allowed leave to attend a picture theatre, but failed to return to the institution. His leave has been cancelled and his arrest is desired.

Auckland.— 2oth July last, for theft of £125 in money, the property of Alfred John Campbell, land agent, Dunedin, Frederick Crow (name probably fictitious), age about forty, Height about 5 ft. 8 in., medium build, tan complexion, dark hair ; well dressed ; speaks well. He sold the complainant the North Island rights to manufacture and sell Ure’s Hat and Mice Poison, but he had no authority to do so. It is believed that he was canvassing throughout the North Island in 1940 selling space for advertisements on calendars. No warrant.

Auckland. 26th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for three days in default of paying £2, balance of fine and costs for resisting the police, Jack, Para Corner, referred to in Police Gazette, 1942, page 863.

Palmerston North.— ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for three months for failing to report for military service, Percival Randle Gourlay, referred to in Police Gazette, 1942, page 927. ,

Wellington. —l2th October last, on warrant to apprehend for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Gertrude Pauline Powell, Sidney Roland Powell, age about sixty, height 6 ft., retired dentist, medium build, fair complexion, thick grey hair, blue eyes; usually wears a grey suit (no hat) and glasses with thick lenses ; slightly stooped. Wellington. —7th ultimo, on warrant for being absent from the ship “ Amerika” without leave, Charles Samms, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 8 in., able seaman, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, blue eyes. 3 y-J.

Christchurch. — ultimo, on warrant to apprehend for failing to maintain his wife, Mary Theresa Taylor Gillespie, Edward Gillespie, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 6 in., jeweller and salesman, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, grey eyes, scar on abdomen. He is referred to in Police Gazette, 1935, page 482, and 1937, page 358, and Photographs, 1927, page 82. He may have left the Dominion.

Dunedin. 7th instant, for a breach of his probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), John Peter Franks,' referred to in Police Gazette, 1942, page"" 776, 'and' Fnotographs, page 70. He has failed to report to a Probation Officer, and has also failed to make restitution and his arrest is desired.

Invercargill. — 7th instant, on warrant to apprehend for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Doris Alice Margaret Rooney, Geraldine, and children, Edward Joseph ’ Ro©Rßf, referred to in Police Gazette, 1941, "page 771.
