Auckland.— escaping from the Avondale Mental Hospital on the instant, .Walter Lloyd Townsend, age twenty, height, 5 ft. 6 in., native of New Zealand j~strong build, sallow complexion, dark hair; wearing a dark tweed suit and black shoes. He was allowed leave to attend a picture theatre, but failed to return to the institution. His leave has been cancelled and his arrest is desired.

Auckland.— 2oth July last, for theft of £125 in money, the property of Alfred John Campbell, land agent, Dunedin, Frederick Crow (name probably fictitious), age about forty, Height about 5 ft. 8 in., medium build, tan complexion, dark hair ; well dressed ; speaks well. He sold the complainant the North Island rights to manufacture and sell Ure’s Hat and Mice Poison, but he had no authority to do so. It is believed that he was canvassing throughout the North Island in 1940 selling space for advertisements on calendars. No warrant.

Dunedin. 7th instant, for a breach of his probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), John Peter Franks,' referred to in Police Gazette, 1942, page"" 776, 'and' Fnotographs, page 70. He has failed to report to a Probation Officer, and has also failed to make restitution and his arrest is desired.
