PROPERTY STOLEN.

Auckland. —l4th March last, from the dwelling of DAISY CROZIER, 79 Wakefield Street, a gentlemen’s watch; a hand mirror and hair-brush (recovered); Bs. in money; and two bronze Great War medals, one round and the other in form of star, each engraved “ Sgt. L. Crozier, 12/371 ” ; total value, £6 3s. Medals identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Man (name unknown), age about twenty, height about 5 ft. 7 in., Maori, medium build, copper complexion, black hair, brown eyes; wearing medium-grey sports trousers and dark-green or blue sports coat; quiet speech. Complainant discovered suspect in her bedroom and when questioned about the watch the man handed it to her. After he left the house she discovered that the remainder of the property described had been stolen. Later the same day she found the mirror and brush on the front door-step, and she also found in her dwelling a quilt, value 155., which had been stolen the same day from the dwelling of Rose Ann Molloy, 65 Wakefield Street.

Auckland. 6th March last, from a motor-car in Cook Street, the property of PERL HOWARD DAWSON, veterinary surgeon, 150 Hobson Street, a brown imitation leather attache-case, 18 in. by 12 in. by 4 in.; a hypodermic syringe of Moore and Sons brand; three pairs of whelping forceps of similar brand, size 12£in.; a glass syringe; a steel tooth-scale, size 5-fin.; a nickel-plated stethoscope a metal castrating-knife ; a pair of nickel-plated nail-cutters ; a pair of heavy steel nail-cutters, 4-J- in. long; a nickelplated milk-syphon tube, 4 in. long; a black dressing-case, 6-Jin. by 44 in. by Jin.; a probe ; a nickel-plated grooved director; a pair of nickel-plated, dressing forceps ; two folding scalpels ; two camel-hair brushes ; a packet of brown ligature silk, a prescription pad containing about fifty leaves with complainant’s name thereon; plaster-of-pans bandages ; adhesive plaster ; anaesthetic fluid ; antiseptic lotion ; liniment; surgical needles ; glass tubes containing hypodermic tablets ; and a box containing seven Aricycle ampoules made by Bayer Pharama, Ltd., Sydney ; total value, £ls. Portion identifiable. Other instruments, value £2, the property of the same complainant, were recovered, and Edward Charles Cotter, referred to in Police Gazette, 1941, page 409, and Photographs, 1922, page 115, has been convicted of stealing them, but the property enumerated above has not been recovered.

On or about the 18th February last, from the wharf, the property of the SHAW, SAVILL, AND ALBION SHIPPING CO., eight cargo chains, each 10 ft. long with pear-shaped link at each end which is in. in diameter and branded “ S.S.A.C. A. 3 S.W.L. 2 tons 11 cwt.” intermediate links in. diameter ; total value, £SO. R. and A. speaker which is unusual in this type ; value, £lO. Identifiable.

Rotorua. 2nd ultimo, from a motor-car, the property of DOROTHY CAVANAGH, 201 Rintoul Street, Wellington, a ladies’ navy-blue leather handbag; a green pendent brooch ; a rolled-gold cuff-link; a ladies’ silver hunting watch, “ L.M.” on back case; and £1 15s. in money ; total value, £lB 15s. Bag and watch identifiable.

Wellington. —On the 17th ultimo, the dwelling of BERTHA GREENAWAY, 37 Thorndon Quay, was broken into and the following stolen: A ladies’ gold round wristlet watch with gold-coloured numerals ; a gentlemen’s nickelplated pocket watch, white dial, pin for moving hands at side of winder ; a gold round pendant with wishbone in centre from which are suspended about four rubies and four pearls, neck-chain attached ; an oval pendant with three small sapphires in centre and some others suspended, gold neck-chain attached a gold round brooch with ruby in centre; a pink cigar-shaped coral brooch with gold band at each end ; a metal tie-clasp brooch with two dogs on it; a gold curb bangle, gold locket attached with “ 8.G.” on back; a gold band ring set with a green stone in shape of woman’s head ; a white enamel bedroom clock, about 6 in. by 4 in., black Arabic numerals ; a two-cell torch with black barrel, head larger than barrel ; a pair of gentlemen’s white kid shoes with brown toecaps, size 5, composition rubber soles of circular design ; two white silk canoe shirts, 15J neck, long sleeves, “ H.H.H.” on tag at neck ; a fugi silk coat shirt, 15£ neck, “ C.G.” in indelible ink on neckband ; a blue-grey sports shirt, 15£ neck, white pearl buttons which fasten to loops ; a gentlemen’s airtex singlet ; a pair of white locknit shorts ; a green self-filling fountain-pen with pocket-clip and Eversharp pencil to match ; and two white collars, size 15| ; total value, £24 18s. fid. Identifiable except collars.

Wellington.— the 7th March and 25th April last, from a room at 277 Mansfield Street, the property of MARY BETTINA STEWART, a fine gold chain necklace with square aquamarine in gold setting attached, and a pear-shaped similar stone is attached to the square aquamarine with a fine gold bar, value £3O (indentifiable); and £1 2s. 6d. in money.

Wellington. Bth April last, from the shop of EMMA ANN JOHNSON, 19 Ganges Road, Khandallah, two cashboxes containing about £IOO 14s. 2d. in money, including an Australian 10s. note; a rent-book; a Social Security stamp-book in name I. L. Lamont; and a black book containing details of shop-takings from 1937 to 1941.

Christchurch. — Between the 26th August, 1940, and February last, from the Armoury in King Edward Barracks, the property of FREDERICK THOMAS HANSER, 69 St. Hellier Street, Linwood, a -22 calibre H. and R. Arms Co. revolver, nickel-plated, No. 334168, black rubber grips; value, £1 10s. Identifiable.

Dunedin. — 11th March last, from a room the property of JANET WEAR, 21 Park hill Avenue, a ladies’ gold wristlet watch, round fawn and white dial, Arabic numerals, “ J.D.S.” scratched on inside back case ; black ribbon band ; value, £3. Identifiable.
