PROPERTY STOLEN.
Parnell. 6th ultimo, from the veranda of the dwelling of MOLLY MARGARET AGNES McKENDRY, 19 Garfield Street, a carton containing a rose-bowl dinner-set of thirtytwo pieces, pale-pink roses on border, Mcakin’s make; and a carton containing a crocus tea-set of twenty-four pieces, various coloured tulips on cups, plates, and saucers, Royal Albert make ; total value, £6 17s. Identifiable.
Manunut. 3oth October last, from the boardinghouse of MAVIS ANNIE PATTERSON, Miro Street, five dark single blankets ; a dark double blanket ; a white pillow slip ; and a white face towel; total value, £5 19s. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Reginald David Hayward, age seventeen, height 5 ft. 4 in., presser and mill hand, native of New Zealand, thin build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair which he keeps very long, brown eyes, abscess-scar on one side of neck. He stayed at the boardinghouse, but he disappeared on the 30th October last taking the property described above with him. When located he is to be interviewed regarding other offences.
Wellington. loth ultimo, from a cloak-room in Garland’s Restaurant, Manners Street, the property of JOHN JAMES CHRISTIAN, Cornwall House, Plimmer’s Steps, a gentlemen’s double-breasted overcoat of navy-blue pile, half lined with black satin, 54 in. long, 38£ in. chest, vent in back, belt ; value, £9 9s. Identifiable.
Wellington. sth October last, from Trentham Military Camp, the property of KAY GORDON DON, soldier, a six-valve dual-wave blue Stella portable wireless set, 28 in. high, 14 in. wide, 12 in. deep, covered with oilcloth with handle on top, iron-bound corners, resembles a suit-case ; value, £36. Identifiable.
Blackball. — 12th or 13th October last, from the dwelling of EDWARD ARTHUR PASCOE, Stafford Street, an old black leather wallet containing fifteen £5 notes.
Greymouth. —Between the 2nd and Bth October last, from the ship “ Korowai,” the property of the UNION STEAM SHIP CO., a brass lifeboat spirit compass of floating type, two side sockets for suspending on pivots, glass held down with heavy brass ring bearing trade-mark which represents a shield and two crossed arrows; value, £B. Identifiable. The brass binnacle from which the compass was removed was badly damaged, and appeared to have been done maliciously.
Culverden. — Between November, 1938, and January, 1939, from a tent on Tekoa Station, the property of VINCENT EDMUND WESTLAND, care of Bruce Parker, Blenheim, a -303 calibre Lee Enfield rifle, No. 3003, barrel and body No. P.B. 7289, bolt No. A. 39848 ; value, £3. Identifiable.
Winton. — 1928, the property of FRANK POLLOCK SCOBIE (deceased), a -303 calibre Magazine Lee Enfield rifle, No. 3570, model 1895 ; value, £2. Identifiable.
