Newton. — ultimo, from a motor-car in Richmond Road, the property of RAYMOND WILFRED CLARE, 108 Leinster Road, Christchurch, a miniature crystal whisky barrel, 8 in. in diameter by 6 in. high, in brown stained stand, chromium-plated tap and bands, six green crystal miniature beer mugs attached to stand; a round silver-plated butterdish, 6 in. diameter ; and a photograph of yacht “ Aileen ” in brown oak frame, 12 in. by 10 in.; total value, £4 Bs. Suspicion is attached to Leslie James Harwaatl, referred to in Police Gazette, 1939, page 348, and Photographs, 1936, page '3l, wearing brown tweed suit, motorist’s leather jacket, and black shoes. Auckland. 29th December last, from the shop of Columbus Radios, Ltd., the property of MAVIS PRISCILLA DAWSON, 63 St. Mary’s Road, Ponsonby, a ladies’ oblong handbag of soft black leather, containing an 18 ct. white gold chased wedding ring ; a ladies’ 18 ct. white gold chased dress ring, claw set with a large square emerald with small diamond on each side in platinum setting; four Yale keys, three of which are on a ring; £5 in money; two powdercompacts ; and some stamps; total value, £lB 18s. 6d. Rings identifiable.

Auckland. —22nd December last, the property of the FARMERS’ TRADING CO., 21 Curran Street, Ponsonby, a gentlemen’s grey worsted suit with broken black stripes, and blue stripes about £ in. apart, fits man of strong build about 5 ft. in height, “ Farmers’ Trading Co.” on tab ; value, £8 10s. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to a Man (name unknown), age about twenty-seven, height about 6 ft., flight build, ruddy complexion, dark hair ; wearing a green • sports coat. The suit was made for Norman Coop, and on the evening of the 22nd December last a man of suspect’s description called for the suit saying he was Coop’s brother. It was later discovered that his statement was false, and he had no authority to obtain the suit.

Auckland. — December last, from the shop of RALPH GORDON SKEATES, 53 Princess Street, Northcote, an 18 ct. gold hexagon-shaped diamond ring, set with two diamonds in each shoulder in platinum setting, “ (XT/i/0) ” scratched on inside of shank; value, £l4. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to a Woman (name unknown), height 5 ft. 6 in., slight build, fresh complexion, fair hair, sharp features ; wearing a green coat. This woman, at her request, was shown some rings, but did not buy any, and after she left the shop the ring described above was missed.

Putaruru.— Between the Ist December last and 21st ultimo, from a farm on Arapuni Road, the property of JOHN THOMAS SWINEY, sixty full-mouth Romney cross ewes, branded “ P.S.” below a bar, some are branded on shoulder and some on rump, various earmarks; about sixty Romney cross lambs earmarked with “ P ” punched in top of left ears of ewes and in top of right ears of wethers ; total value, £lll. Identifiable.

Palmerston North. — ultimo, from clothing on the Manawatu River bank, the property of REGINALD HARRY WILSON, 12 West Street, a gentlemen’s chromium-plated oblong Revue Sports wristlet watch with round black dial and luminous hands, “ No. 107806 ” on outside of back case, screw back; and a gentlemen’s 9 ct. gold signet ring, “ R.H.W.” on shield, “From Irene” on back value, £7 ss. Identifiable.

Palmerston North. No. W.D. 16889, a gentlemen’s black B.S.A. with red lines, the property of REX HOWARD SMITH, value £5. Suspicion is attached to Eugene Charles Dominic Patrick McCarthy, referred to in Police Gazette, 1940, pages 41 and 156, and Photographs, 1937, page 36.
