SPECIAL NOTICE.
Napier. About 9 p.ra. on the 7th instant, Eileen Elizabeth Williams, aged sixteen years, of Charles Street, Westshore, was cycling home near Pandora Point, Port Ahuriri, when an unknown man on a bicycle struck her a violent blow on the head with some hard weapon. She got off her bicycle and leaned against the fence, but her assailant again hit her on the head and then seized her by the throat and mouth in order to stop her screaming. On seeing the headlights of an approaching motor-car he ran to his bicycle and rode away. The girl is unable to describe the man further than that he is of medium height, had his hat pulled well down over the forehead, and she thinks his face was covered with something. His bicycle squeaked a good deal. She describes the weapon with which she was assaulted as being round, about 14 in. in length, and may have been 2 in. thick. Any information regarding the offence is to be communicated to the Inspector of Police, Napier. / /
