• Auckland. —Bth October last, for false pretences, — Edwards, age about thirty-nine, height about 5 ft. 5 in., carpenter, native of New Zealand, good build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, one upper front artificial tooth missing ; dressed in a navy-blue suit, tan boots with heavy soles (no hat). Accused obtained £2 from Mary Millicent Wrigley,
44 Picton Street, Newton, by falsely representing that he had taken a flat at 11 Ayr Street, Parnell, that he had a letter of introduction from complainant’s sister, Mrs. Steele, of Omokoroa, via Tauranga, and that his wife had lost her purse and £9, while travelling from Tauranga. He is identical with John George Moir, alias Morris, alias Millar, referred to in Police Gazette, 1934, page 601, and with John Mullis, referred to in Police Gazette, 1933, page 755, and Photographs, 1929, page 65. No warrant. Arrested.
Auckland.— 26th November last, that he may be located and interviewed, Leonard Charles Lawrence Whiteside, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 4 in., canvasser, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion, light-brown hair ; usually wears brown clothes. On the above date he obtained from the post-office a money- telegram for 10s., addressed to his cousin, E. Whiteside, a patient in the mental hospital. He signed his cousin’s name to the order and received 10s. On the Ist December he was interviewed by a Post and Telegraph officer and admitted the offence. Two days later he paid to the Post and Telegraph Department the sum of 10s. It is now desired that he be interviewed with a view / to charging him with theft. No warrant. 3/^/^

New Plymouth.—On or about the 24th ultimo, on warrant for forgery, Edward Edgar Gray Dickson, referred to in Police Gazette, 1934, page 138, and 1935, page 2. Accused forged the signature D. Penwarden to a cheque for £lO 10s., payable to K. Bailey, and uttered it to Stanley Dean Clark of J. B. Mac Ewan and Co., in payment for a tennis racquet (recovered) receiving £9 17s. 6d. in money. He may be in possession of the Bank of New Zealand, New Plymouth, cheque-book, referred to in Police Gazette, 1935, page 2. V lssl
Hastings.—24th September last, on warrant for theft of 3s. 6d., the property of Donald Cranko, dairy-farmer, Ruahapia Road, Charles N. Moore, age about twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair hair, hazel eyes. Accused, who was employed on a milk-run, received 3s. 6d. from Arthur Goodhall, and failed to account for it to his employer. There are other charges ending. ZSfo/LfD.
Mangaweka.— lsth ultimo, that he may he located and interviewed, Donald McLeod, referred to in Police Gazette, 1934, page 649, and Photographs, 1929, page 71. Accused, who was employed as cook on the Tikapau Estate at Ohingaiti for two weeks, was sent to post a letter, but did not return, and his room-mate, Lloyd Allen Trigg, discovered that his suit-case had been forced open and a £5 note and three £1 notes stolen. He may be in possession of a gentlemen’s nickel open-face watch (“ Westclox Dax ” on dial), value 10s. 6d., which was also stolen at the same time and place from Alexander Munro. Dannevirke. l4th December last, on warrant for theft of a lawn-mower and a pair of lawn edge-clippers (recovered), value, £1 10s., the property of Rev. Father Guinane, Allardice Street, Ernest Nash or Rock (names probably fictitious), age about twenty, height 5 ft. .8 in., medium build, dark tanned complexion, curly black hair; wearing grey flannel trousers, shirt, and belt (no hat). During the temporary absence of complainant accused called at the Presbytery and represented to Rev. Father McGlone that he was the man who cut the lawns. He was permitted to take the mower and clippers away to have them sharpened, and later, the same day, he sold them to a secoHarhSnd dealer for 18s. 6d.
Dannevirke. 24th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a pair of saddle-twist trousers (recovered), value £2 155., the property of Albert Edward Hendy, Thomas McGregor, alias Daniel O’Connor, alias Daniel Hughes, alias Denis Murphy, referred to in Police Gazette, 1933, page 740, and Photographs, 1928, page 21. He is now described as a labourer, and a native of Australia ; dressed in a grey suit and cap, and may be wearing a blue denim coat. Christchurch.— l6th November last, for forgery, J. Beck (name probably fictitious), age about thirty-three, strong build, fair tanned complexion; rough appearance. On the 16th November last, the man described presented at Papanui Post-office, a voucher drawn in favour of J. Beck, Brooklands, for £24 15s. as a ration allowance under 4D unemployment scheme. The money was paid, but it was subsequently ascertained that the signature of the certifying officer, F. W. Bines on the voucher was a forgery. No warrant.
Christchurch. —30th November last, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for six days in default of paying £1 10s. fine and costs for riding a bicycle at night without a light, William Stevson, alias Bell, age about thirty-four, height about 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, pale complexion, brown hair; usually dressed in light-grey trousers, brown coat and vest, and brown felt hat - / y/Z4 \S'

(2) George Hill, circus showman, who, on the 28th January, 1925, registered a -22 calibre Winchester repeating rifle, No. 649013 ; and also a -22 calibre Winchester repeating rifle, No. 644985. (3) Jane Irvine, widow, who, on the 10th October, 1922, registered a -22 calibre Winchester repeating rifle, No. 494399.
