Rawene. —On or about the Ist March last, on warrant for obtaining credit by fraud, Richard John Hackett, alias William John Hammond, referred to in Police Gazette, 1932, page 143, and Photographs, 1921, page 39. Accused obtained from James Leo Stitt, hotelkeeper, Horeke, for accommodation for one month credit to the amount of £lO 10s. by fraudulently representing that he was a man of paeans apcf intended to buy the local timber-mill. Newton. —28th September last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for three days in default of paying £1 15s. fine and costs for being found on licensed premises during prohibited hours, George Walton, age about fifty, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion, fair hair turning grey, blue eyes; dressed in a brown suit and shoes and grey felt hat. Auckland.— lßth September last, for indecent assault, Man (name unknown), age about twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 8 in., medium build, fresh complexion, curly black hair, dressed in white trousers and dark coat and vest. In Eldon Street, Parnell, accused indecently assaulted Valentine Flora Bright, age eight. No warrant.

Auckland. —26th July last, on warrant for false pretences, Frank Phillips, age about fifty-six, height 5 ft. 11 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, ruddy complexion, fair hair, blue eyes ; usually dressed in a dark suit and grey felt hat; drunken habits, and is objectionable in manner and language when drinking. Accused obtained £1 from Joshua Charles Hill, Queen Street, by falsely representing that he was J. C. Clark, builder and .contractor,.of Otorohanga.

Auckland.— l9th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £2 ss. fine and costs for failing to pay his unemployment levies, Lewis Toomer, age twenty-four, height about 5 ft. 8 in., musician and drummer, medium build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair; usually well dressed in a bluish-grey suit / (no hat); speaks quickly; plausible manner, /%***? z 3/"

Taumarunui. —On or, about the 18th-ultimo, on warrant for forgery and uttering, Leonard Giles Mashlan, age ; about nineteen, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, slight build, fair complexion, several upper side teeth missing ; wearing grey trousers and yellow and black blazer. Accused was employed by Ralph Townsend Fullerton Smith, farmer, Okahukura, who, on the 18th ultimo, gave him a cheque for £2 9s. Next day accused purchased from Leonard James O’Reilly for £l7 10s. a motor-cycle, in payment for which he uttered the above-mentioned cheque, it having been altered to £2O 95., receiving £2 18s. 6d. in change. He is in possession of a motor-cycle (described as follows': 8.5. A., registration No. 9-815, engine . Wellington. 9th June last, for theft of a gentlemen’s overcoat (recovered), value £6 65., the property of Archibald Walker, John Simpson (name probably fictitious), age about forty, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, medium build, fair complexion and hair ; dressed in a blue suit, felt hat turned down in front, and dark overcoat. The coat was stolen from a motor-car and sold to a second-hand dealer for 10s. No warrant.
