Melbourne (Victoria). — The following jewellery was stolen from THE DIRECT SUPPLY JEWELLERY COMPANY, 229 Collins Street, Melbourne, on the 21st ultimo : Fifteen loose diamonds ; a coronet ring set with four diamonds ; a ring set with six diamonds ; a ring set with one diamond ; a ring set with a diamond in centre and three on each shoulder; a ring set with a diamond in centre and three on each shoulder; a ring set with two diamonds in centre and two on each shoulder; a ring set with twenty-four diamonds in button cluster ; a ring set with sixteen diamonds in oval coronet cluster; a ring set with three diamonds in centre and two on each shoulder ; a coronet ring set with seven diamonds ; a ring set with eight diamonds in star setting, two on each shoulder ; a ring set with seven diamonds in coronet setting ; a ring set with one diamond; a ring set with five diamonds in coronet setting; a ring set with seven diamonds' in coronet cluster ; a ring set with five diamonds in coronet cluster; a ring set with three diamonds ; a ring set with three diamonds in hexagon setting ; a ring set with three diamonds in coronet setting; a ring set with six diamonds in coronet setting ; a ring set with four diamonds in hexagon setting ; a ring set with one diamond in hexagon setting and two on each shoulder; a ring set with nine diamonds in milledia shape ; a ring set with twelve diamonds in square cluster ; a ring set with four diamonds in coronet setting ; a ring set with two diamonds in mille setting and two on shoulder ; a ring set with two diamonds in mille setting and three on shoulder ; a ring set with sixteen diamonds ; a ring set with six diamonds ; a ring set with thirty-one diamonds in fancy cluster; a ring set with nine diamonds in oval setting ; a ring set with twenty-one diamonds ; a ring set with seven diamonds in mille cluster ; a ring set with seven diamonds in cluster ; a ring set with five diamonds in coronet setting; a ring set with five diamonds in mille setting ; a ring set with sixteen diamonds ; a ring set with twenty-six diamonds ; a rectangular diamond set cluster watch ; two diamond set Rolex gold watches ; a diamond bar brooch; an eight diamond and one pearl cluster brooch ; a coronet bar brooch set with one diamond; a coronet brooch set with one diamond; an emerald and diamond cluster; and an opal and diamond cluster (each ring has “D.S.J. Co.” inside): total value, £1,194 10s. Suspicion is attached to Two SVSerB (names unknown)(l) height 5 ft. 10 J in., slight build; dressed in a grey suit and grey felt hat : and (2) height 5 ft. 7 in., strong build ; dressed in a striped brown suit and dark-felt hat. Melbourne (Victoria). — warrant has been issued for the arrest of John Henry Merton, alias Francis Randal! Sanderson, alias Murray, charged with obtaining at Melbourne on the 15th November, 1926, £25 from Arthur Clifton Beilby by false pretences. Description : Age about forty, height about 5 ft. 9 in., civil engineer, good build, fair complexion and hair, clean-shaved, full face ; dressed in a dark-grey sac suit, light-coloured felt hat, and usually wears spectacles ; good appearance ; supposed to be a native of New Zealand. Accused, who carried on business at 497 Collins Street, as a mercantile broker, sent quotations to country grocers offering goods at prices far below those quoted by wholesale houses, and after obtaining orders for groceries in which were enclosed cheques and money-orders amounting to £2,000, he disappeared without supplying the goods. He may come to New Zealand, and should he he located, or should he leave again for Australia, a communication is to be sent to the Commissioner of Police, Wellington.
