■ Auckland.— February last, for theft of a tenor horn (recovered), value £2O, the property of Auckland City Band, Tom Burnett, age twenty-one, height 6 ft., labourer, native of Australia, medium build, fair complexion, light-brown hair, brown eyes ; impediment in speech. Accused, who was a member of the band, was supplied with the tenor horn. He subsequently left the band and sold the instrument to a second-hand dealer. He may be identical with Allan Charles Mann, alias Ernest Stanley Trigg, alias Elliott, referred to in Police Gazette, 1924, page 450, and Photographs, page 61 * No warrant.

Auckland. —4th October last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for six months in default of paying £llO os. Id. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, of whom Eva Salt is the mother, Martin Gjerstad, alias Gorsted, alias Gerstag, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 6 in., seaman and labourer, native of Norway, medium build, brown hair, blue eyes, “ M.J.” on back of right thumb. Arrears computed to 15th September, 1923. (See Police Gazette, 1922, page 14, and Photographs, page 9.)

Hamilton. —20th September last, that he may be interviewed regarding the part taken by him when Ivan Laycock, alias J. Ballin, &c. (arrested), committed thehence of false pretences on William Francis Choat, , Amt-keeper in Victoria Street, James Trevarthen Thomas, alias John Brady, alias John Pennell, age fortjtsi height 5 ft. 3 in., labourer, native of fresh /complexion, brown hair going bald, blup/eyesf gold njjpf'r/ tboth,' on left palm; “ KauaerangaV*’ two flags,/ /Word; &c., on chest; dressed in a dark-brown suit and grey /oft-felt hat. He was in company with Laycock when the latter tendered in payment for three meals a valueless cheque for £2 Bs., receiving £2 3s cash, and he is suspected of being an accomplice. Hamilton. —15th ultimo, for theft of a Post Office Savingsbank pass-book (recovered), the property of Nicholas Nesdale, farm hand, Taupiri, Frank Young, age thirty-one, height about 5 ft. 3 in., slight build, pale fresh complexion, deanshaved, grey eyes, upper teeth missing, lower teeth discoloured ; dressed in a light-grey suit (no vest), greenish-grey Stetson hat, grey fancy socks, tan boots, and dark bow tie with white stripes ; smart gait. Accused occupied a room with complainant on a farm at Taupiri, and is suspected of having stolen the pass-book, which was subsequently presented with a forged withdrawal notice for £135 at the postoffice, Hamilton. No warrant. (See following paragraph.)

Hamilton. —15th ultimo, for forgery, “ Teddy,” age about thirty-five, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, medium build, dark complexion, dark hair, light-brown eyes ; dressed in a darkgrey suit and dark soft-felt hat. Accused, who became possessed of Nicholas* Nesdale’s Post Office Savings-bank pass-book (referred to in preceding paragraph), forged his signature to a withdrawal notice for £135 and uttered it at the Hamilton Post-office. The forged signature being unlike that of complainant the Post Office -official refused to act upon it, and the accused disappeared. No warrant.

Bull’s.2sth August last, on warrant for carrying on the business or occupation of a bookmaker, Charles Sullivan, age about thirty-three, height 5 ft. 8 in., barman and labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, florid complexion,, fair hair, pug-nose, round features ; dressed in a dark-blue suit and soft-felt hat. He failed to appear in answer to a summons.

Wanganui.—llth September last, that she may be located with a view of ascertaining whether or not she is registered under the Barmaids Registration Act, 1912, Mary Taylor, age fifty-five, height 5 ft. 4 in., barmaid, slightly stout build, brown hair turning grey, brown eyes, round wrinkled face, sometimes wears earrings and a large amount of other jewellery. She was employed at the Criterion Hotel, Wanganui, prior to 11th September last.

Palmerston North. —16th October last, on warrant of commitment to military custody for seven days in default of paying £1 10s. fine and costs for failing to attend drill, Kopanga Pouri, age sixteen, height 5 ft. 6 in., farm labourer, Maori, strong build, copper complexion, black hair, brown eyes ; speaks slowly J. 25~ •
