PROPERTY STOLEN.

Newton. —On the 20th ultimo the premises of JOHN' KERSHAW (LIMITED), Storekeepers, at 48 Pitt Street, were broken into, and the following property stolen therefrom : Three brown-fibre cane suit-cases with leather comers and brass fittings, and a large quantity of tobacco and cigarettes of various brands ; total value, £64 2s. lid. Suit-cases only identifiable.

Auckland. —Between the 15th and 17th ultimo, from a building at Newmarket, the property of ARTHUR GEORGE M ADDISON and others, carpenters, 9 Wood Street, Ponsonby, a 22 in. Mathieson trying-plane, with “ G.M.” on ends ; a Spear and Jackson tenon-saw, with “ G.M.” on handle; a 16 in. screwdriver, with “ G.M.” on it a No. 5 Cheney claw-hammer ; a set of twist-bits; a steel compass; a draw-knife with “Keen cutter on blade; a in. Marples chisel, with “ G.M.” on handle ; al2 in. bevel; an oil-stone ; a J in. Foot-brand cold chisel; a nail-pocket; a Disston saw ; a Disston keyhole-saw; a three-foot boxwood rule ; a jack-plane; a 9 in. square ; . and a pair of zinc-snips and other tools : total value, £l7 Bs. 3d. Identifiable.

Katikati.— FARMERS’ UNION TRADING COMPANY’S store broken into: -It has now been ascertained that the numbers on two of the £lO notes are A over Y 13543 and A over Y 20501, and not “ A 713543, A 720501 ” as stated in Police Gazette, 1923, page 538.

Hamilton. —Between the 16th August last and the 3rd a motor-bicycle in the State Fire Insurance garage, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Post and Telegraph Department), two Terry tirespanners, a B.S.A. combination block spanner, a King Dick spanner, a small magneto-spanner, a nickel wire screwdriver, a set-spanner (£ in. by f in.), a cylinder-spanner, and a cushiondrive spanner; total value, £1 15s. Identification doubtful.

New Plymouth. 26th July last, from a building in Newton Street, a short Stanley iron plane, a smoothing-plane with “ F. G. Baker ” on it, and a jack-plane with “ F. G. Baker ” on it, the property of FREDERICK GEORGE BAKER, carpenter ; also a long tri wood-plane, with “ R. 8.” on it, the property of RUPERT BAKER, carpenter : total value, £5 Is. 6d. Identifiable.

New Plymouth. —On or about the 15th July last, from the dwelling of MAUD HAROLD NOLAN, Fitzroy, about £lls in £lO, £5, and £1 notes. Not identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Percy Ashton Carter, age forty-nine, height 5 ft. 7£ in., clerk and canvasser, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, grey eyes. He has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted. (See Police Gazette, 1910, page 142.)

Hastings. —On the 14th ultimo the library of the HASTINGS BOROUGH COUNCIL was broken into, and £3 10s. stolen therefrom. Not identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Mitchell (name probably fictitious), age about thirty-five, height 5 ft. 9 in,, labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, fair hair; dressed in a grey check suit and brownish soft-felt hat. He may be identical with William Brock, alias Leach, referred to in Police Gazette, 1923, page 552.

Woodville. 3oth August last, from the church-grounds, the property of TOM HUGHES, railway clerk, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled free-wheel bicycle, reversible handles, rattrap pedals, Barnet-Glass tire on front wheel, Dunlop Railroad tire on back wheel, and an acetylene gas-lamp attached ; total value, £6 ss. Identifiable.

Pahiatua. —4th ultimo, from behind the Picture Theatre, the property of LOUIS DOMENICO ANGELINI, schoolboy, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled free-wheel 22 in. Wellington. —3oth August last/the property of DONALD STEWART McCULLOCH, f clerk, a gentlemen’s silver openface keyless watch, with “ John McGowan Crieff ” on dial; and a gold fetter-and-oval watch-chain, similar to illustration No. 21 in Police Gazette, 1911, page 2; total value £8 10s. Complainant, while under the influence of liquor, lost the articles.

Leeston. 22nd ultimo, from the Leeston Hotel, the property of HARRY JEAN CONWAY, farmer, Selwyn, a gentlemen’s dark-grey heavy overcoat with tan-leather lining, elastic bands inside of cuffs; and a brown-felt hat, with “ H.J.C.” on leather band : total value, £l6 4s. Identifiable.

Dunedin. On or about the 23rd August last the office of WEST AUSTRALIAN HARDWOOD COMPANY in Fish Street was broken into, and the following cheques and money stolen therefrom: A cheque for £4 19s. 4d., No. D 42009, on the National Bank, Milton, signed “ James France ” ; a Public Works Department cheque for £4 Is. 4d., No. 155393 ; a cheque for £7 11s., No. 363499, on the National Bank, Dunedin, signed “S. Bush ” ; a cheque for £6 6s. on the Commercial Bank, Dunedin, signed “W. B. McAlister ” and £9 11s. in cash : total value, £32 Bs. Bd. Cheques only identifiable.

Dunedin. —On the 23rd August the box - factory of FREDERICK JOHN CARTER in Ward Street was broken into, and the following property stolen therefrom : £8 in notes and silver and £1 15s. 7d. worth of postage-stamps. Not identifiable.

Dunedin. —7th August last, from a yard at 304 Moray Place, the property of DAVID NEWLANDS, 18 Woodhaugh Street, a gentlemen’s B.S.A. bicycle, upturned handles with one grip, steel rims, rat-trap pedals, celluloid mud-guards ; value, £7. Identifiable:
