MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION.

Resignation. No. 1581. Detective Palmer, Arthur James Reid. 16th August, 1923.

Registration of Aliens. The Registration of Aliens Suspension Act, 1923, is now in force, and all work in connection with the Registration of Aliens Act, 1917, will forthwith be suspended. The registers kept at each police-station will be immediately forwarded to the Government Statistician, Wellington, for safe keeping, so that in the event of the Act again coming into force they can be re-distributed at once. The personal files of each alien will be kept at District Headquarters and carefully preserved. The Government Statistician desires me to express his thanks to members of the force for the prompt and efficient manner in which the duties relating to the above have been carried out. A. H. Weight, Commissioner of Police. Wellington, 25th August, 1923. (Pi 23/1127.)
