PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. —28th August last, that he may be located and the Government Statistician notified of his whereabouts, James Dcjnaghy, age about forty, height 5 ft. 7in., flax hand, dark hair and complexion, clean-shaved. He may be identical with James Donoghy, referred to in Police Gazette, 1917, page 602.

Auckland.—l2th instant, that a notice to parade for medical examination maybe served upon him, Cedric Henderson Harry Lombardi, aged twenty-six, height sft. 4 in., blacksmith’s striker, native of New Zealand, dark hair and complexion, clean-shaved. He is untidy, and resembles Charlie Chaplin, the picture comedian, in appearance.

Auckland. Mental Hospital, Joseph Thomas Christie, age twentytwo, height 5 ft. in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes ; scar behind left ear; may be wearing a brown suit. (See Police Gazette, 1917, page 134.)

The name and description given are those of a man who sold one of the overcoats to Mrs. M. Lindsay, second-hand dealer, Victoria Street, for 2s. 6d. No warrant.

Tauranga.— loth instant, that proceedings for failing to notify his change of address may be instituted against him, John Gribbin, age thirty-four, height sft. llfin., labourer, native of Ireland.

Hastings.— Bth October last, on warrant, for failing to appear at the Official Assignee’s Office, Napier, on the 28th ultimo, to be examined (Bankruptcy Act), Frederick Cassin, age about forty-three, height sft. 11 in., land agent, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, dark hair turning grey, brown eyes, prominent upturned nose, long neck ; usually dressed in a blue or dark-tweed suit, and cap or dark-felt hat; talkative; erect gait. Dannevirke. —26th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a cheque for £2O and a cheque for £3, both on the Union Bank of Australia, and £2 in notes, the property of James Granville, farmer, Toi Plat, Hettie or Ninetta Mackinnon, age about twenty-five, height 5 ft., domestic, native of Italy, medium build, fresh complexion, black hair, dark-brown eyes ; usually dressed in a dark-blue costume ; cheerful manner. Accused was employed as housekeeper by the complainant, and was given the money to pay accounts, but converted it to her own use.

Otaki. —Between the 15th and 25th September last, on warrant for false pretences, James Francis Burt, age twenty-nine, height 5 ft. 7^in., cook, native of Australia, medium build, fair complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes ; usually dressed in an old brown suit and Trilby hat, and wears a discharged soldier’s badge, No. 9/253 ; quiet manner. Accused obtained board and lodging, value £1175., from Ada Fanny Cook, boardinghouse-keeper, by falsely representing that he was a member of the military police.

Otaki. Between 15th and 25th September last, on warrant for false pretences, John George Orr, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 8 in., grocer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, crooked nose ; dressed in a dark suit and light grey-tweed cap, and wears a discharged soldier’s badge, No. 10/3046; quiet manner. Accused obtained board and lodging, value £1 175., from Ada Fanny Cook, boardinghouse-keeper by falsely representing that he was a member of the military police. (Wellington W.B. 1203).

Wellington. —l3th instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Annie Elizabeth Jane Florance, 188 Riddiford Street, George Thomas Florance, age thirtyseven, labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark hair and camplexion, brown eves. Arrears to 26th ultimo, £l2 15s.

Greymouth. —l9th October last, that a summons for failing to enrol in the proper Division of the Expeditionary Force Reserve may be served upon him, John Haimer Pope, alias John H. Nesbitt age about thirty-two, height 5 ft. 9 in., bushman and sawmill hand, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, curly dark hair, grey eyes, receding chin; theatrical appearance. He may be accompanied by a woman named Elliott, (See Police Gazette , 1917, page 624.)

Christchurch.— E. Luxton, false pretences: It has now been ascertained by the Christchurch police that the accused’s correct name is Ernest Luxton, and height about 5 ft. 9 in., and that he has been for the past two years keeping a billiard-saloon at New Plymouth. He is a reputed bookmaker, and may be found in the company of racing-men, or about billiard-saloons. (See Police Gazette, 1917, page 654.)

Christchurch. —15th instant, that proceedings for failing to notify his change of address may be instituted against him, William Gore Wellbrock, age twenty-nine, steel-moulder, native of New Zealand.

Addington. —lsth instant, that proceedings for failing to notify his change of address may be instituted against him, Arthur Simpson, age forty-one, height 5 ft. 9 in., driver, medium build, dark complexion, dark-brown moustache ; usually dressed in a dark-brown suit with wide trousers.

Lyttelton.— 9th instant, on warrant for deserting from the barque “Amy Turner,” John Halcome, age about twenty-one, height 6 ft., cook and cabin-boy, native of America, strong build, fair hair and complexion, cleanshaved ; usually dressed in a dark suit with light stripes. He also committed a breach of the War Regulations, he having landed without a passport.

Dunedin.— loth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Police-gaol for three days in default of paying £1 13s. fine and costs for being found in a billiard-saloon after closing-hours, John Brisbane, age twenty-six, height 4 ft. 9 in., cook, native of Scotland, medium build, fair complexion, dark hair, blue eyes; usually dressed in a blue-serge suit. He recently joined the troopship “ Willochra ”as a cook. (See Police Gazette, 1917, page 649.)
