(From Neiu Zealand Gazette, 1917, pages 4282, 4287, 4388, and 4334.) Amending Regulations for Trout-fishing in the Auckland Acclimatization District. LIVERPOOL, Governor-General. ORDER IN COUNCIL. At the Government House at Wellington, this twelfth day of November, 1917. Present : His Excellency the Governor-General in Council.
WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the thirtieth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 124, of the second day of the following month, regulations were made for trout-fishing in the Auckland Acclimatization District and waters thereof:
And whereas by Order in Council dated the eighth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 154, of the eleventh day of the same month, clause eight of the said regulations of the thirtieth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, was revoked and a fresh clause eight substituted therefor :
And whereas it is desirable to further amend the said regulations : Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred on him by section eightythree of the Fisheries Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke clause eight made by the said Order in Council of the eighth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, and doth make and substitute the following clause eight in lieu thereof.
REGULATION. S. No person shall use any bait or lure other than the natural or artificial fly, or natural or artificial minnow, and any small indigenous fish, insect, grasshopper, beetle, or spider. The use of shellfish, koura, or the houhou or matai grub, or of earth worms shall be a breach of the regulations : Provided that no bait other than artificial fly shall be used for taking fish in that portion of the Puniu River above Kihikihi, or in that portion of the Waipa River for seven miles above and seven miles below the Township of Otorohanga. The fine for every breach of this regulation shall not be less than 40s. or more than £SO.

Prohibiting the Importation of Preparations purporting to be Remedies for Drink and Drug Habits. LIVERPOOL, Governor-General. ORDER IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS it is provided by section forty-six of the Customs Act, 1913, that the Governor-General may from time to time, by Order in Council gazetted, prohibit the importation into New Zealand of any goods the prohibition of the importation of which is, in his opinion, necessary for the prevention of fraud or deception : And whereas in the opinion of the Governor-General the prohibition of the importation of the goods specified in the Schedule hereto is necessary for the prevention of fraud and deception:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power conferred upon him as aforesaid, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby prohibit the importation into New Zealand of the goods specified in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE. The Keeley Cure for Opium Habit, Drunkenness, Neurasthenia, Tobacco Habit. Woods’ Treatment for Alcohol, Drug, and Tobacco Habits. Drink Habit Cure (Neale Institute Company, Des Moines, lowa, U.S.A.). * Dipsosava.
Dipsocuxe. Antidipso. Any preparation purporting to be a remedy for drunkenness, alcoholic habit, opium habit, tobacco habit, cocaine habit, or other drug habits. OTAHUHU TROTTING CLUE. THE following regulations have been adopted under the Gaming Act, 1908 : In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, and with the approval of His Excellency the Governor-General of New Zealand, the Otahuhu Trotting Club, a trotting club within the meaning of the said Act, and hereinafter referred to as “ the said club,” doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the racecourse situate at Epsom, and set apart for racing purposes, and known as the Otahuhu Trotting Club’s Racecourse, while the same is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings: — 1. In these regulations the words “ bookmaker,” “ trotting club,” and “ race meeting ” shall have the meanings ascribed to these terms by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908. 2. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the said racecourse while the same is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings, namely : (a.) Bookmakers. (6.) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere, if affiliated to the New Zealand Trotting Association. (c.) Common prostitutes, and persons who habitually consort with thieves or with persons who have no lawful visible means of support. The foregoing regulations of the Otahuhu Trotting Club were made and passed by the club on the 7th day of September, 1917, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary. H. R. Mackenzie, Chairman. F. D. RESOLUTION. THE following regulations were laid before the members of the Wanganui Trotting Club at a meeting held on the 22nd day of August, 1917, at Wanganui, with a recommendation by the Chairman of the Club, Mr. C. E. Mackay, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by His Excellency the Governor-General of New Zealand, in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33. Mr. C. E. Mackay, the Chairman of the Club and of the Meeting, moved, “ That it be and hereby is resolved that such regulations be adopted, and that the Chairman be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.” The motion was seconded by Mr. W. L. Young, and carried. The following are the regulations above referred to : WANGANUI TROTTING CLUB. Regulations. (Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)

purposes, and known as the Wanganui Trotting Club Racecourse, while the same is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings. 1. In these regulations the words “ bookmaker,” “ trotting club,” and “ race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908. 2. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the said racecourse while the same is used or occupied by the said club for racing purposes, namely:— (a.) Bookmakers. (b.) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere, if affiliated to the New Zealand Trotting Association. RESOLUTION. THE following regulations were laid before the members of the Greymouth Jockey Club at a meeting held on the sth day of October, 1917, at Greymouth, with a recommendation by the Chairman of the Club, Mr. M. Hannan, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by the Governor-General, in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.
Mr. M. Hannan, the Chairman of the Club and the Meeting, moved, and Mr. W. R. Kettle seconded, and it was resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that the Chairman be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof. The following are the regulations referred to :
GKEYMOUTH JOCKEY CLUB. Regulations. (Under the Gaming Act, 1908). In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Greymouth Jockey Club, a racing club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “ the said club ”), doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the reserve situate at Omoto, Greymouth, set apart for racing purposes, and known as Omoto Racecourse, as the same is described in the Greymouth Racecourse Reserve Act, 1878, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings. 1. In these regulations the words “ bookmaker,” “ racing club,” and “ race meeting ” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908. 2. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the part of the said Greymouth Racecourse Reserve while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely (a.) Bookmakers. ( b .) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere, if affili-
ated to the New Zealand Racing Conference. (c.) Common prostitutes, and persons who habitually consort with thieves or with persons who have no lawful visible means of support. The foregoing regulations of the Greymouth Jockey Club were made and passed by the members of the Greymouth Jockey Club on the sth day of October, 1917, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.
