PROPERTY STOLEN.

Auckland.— 11th August last, IBAEL SOLOMON was assaulted and robbed of the following articles: A gentlemen’s silver-hunting keyless Botherham watch ; an 18 ct. single gold chain, long and short links ; a plain black chamoisleather purse containing nine sovereigns and £1 note : total value, £l6. Offender is described as about 5 ft. 6 in. high, stout build, dark hair, clean-shaved; dressed in dark clothes and black hard hat. Not identifiable.

Auckland.— Between Bth and 30th ultimo, from a cellar in Hall’s Boardinghouse, Wynyard Street, property of HEBBEBT BBOWN, clerk, a gentlemen’s Austral pathracing bicycle, B.S.A. parts, 22 in. frame, wooden rims, painted yellow; value, £l2. Identifiable.

Onehunga. —2lst ultimo, from the whare of GEOBGE POYSEB, farm labourer, Mangere, an old-fashioned blackleather purse, 4 in. long, clip catch, centre compartment torn, containing three sovereigns, a half-sovereign, and two twoshilling pieces, purse only identifiable ; total value, £3 14s. Suspicion attached to Alfred Louis, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 9in., farm labourer, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, fair hair, brown eyes, clean-shaved; dressed in a dark coat, grey pants, and putties. He was dismissed by his employer for dishonesty, and was seen in Poyser’s whare on the morning of theft. Supposed gone to Botorua.

Botorua.— l4th or 15th instant, from the bedroom of WILLIAM CULPAN, Brent’s Boardinghouse, a gentlemen’s gold keyless Waltham watch, plain case, white dial; an 18 ct. double gold albert, with long square links, small round links between ; a white-metal sovereign-case, containing five sovereigns; a round gold medal, “Presented by Auckland Bowling Club to W. Oulpan,” engraved thereon : total value, £lB. Identifiable, except money.

Opotiki. —About 30th October last, from the tent of F. DONNELLY and W. SANDEBSON, road-men, Motu Bead, two cheques, Nos. 724466 and 724467, for £1 7s. each, payable to F. Donnelly and W. Sanderson, on Bank of New Zealand at Opotiki, signed by Donaldson, of Boads Department ; also a silk gold-mounted watch-guard, a gold heart, and charm, and silver match-box (“ Kia Ora” on heart and match-box). Identifiable. Suspicion attached to Patrick McGuire , age about twenty-six, height 5 fc. 8 in., labourer and sailor, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, very small moustache, right little finger missing.

Ormondville. —l9th ultimo, from outside the Takapau Hotel, property of JAMES EGAN, labourer, Pahiatua, a blanket swag, fastened with two leather straps, containing two blankets with black, red, and blue stripes; one pair of brown-cloth trousers ; a pair of grey-dungaree trousers ; an Altono razor ; a Torey’s razor-strop ; a Turkish coloured towel, and a white towel; a pillow; a pair of shears ; a sharpening-stone ; and sundry other articles : total value, £3 10s. Identifiable.

Hunterville. —Ist instant, from the Argyle Hotel, property of GEORGE KNOPP, pedlar and travelling jeweller, Wellington, a ladies’ 18 ct. gold dress-ring, supposed set with three sapphires and two diamonds, or three rubies and two diamonds; value, £5. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to John Dwyer, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 6 in., groom, native of New Zealand, smart active appearance, dark complexion, dark hair, dark eyes; usually dressed in light-grey tweed coat and vest, riding-pants, and brown soft-felt hat.

Otaki. —30th ultimo, from the vest-pocket of JAMES GAROLAN, labourer, a brown-leather purse (three or four pockets), fastened by elastic band, containing three £5 notes and a £1 note, also three or four brass tokens of the Roman Catholic Church. Purse and tokens only identifiable. Suspicion strongly attached to Herbert Solomon, age about twenty, height about 5 ft., medium build, clean-shaved, small scar on bridge of nose, lower lip deformed, speaks very slowly; dressed, in dark-grey suit and cap. Was formerly working on the Foxton Wharf.

Wellington. —l7th instant, the dwelling of ARTHUR CARMAN, Britomart Street, was broken into, and the following stolen : Six electro-plated dessert-spoons, Harrison Bros, and Kowson, makers, value 17s. 6d. ; 6 electro-plated dinner-forks, Sheffield mark, value 17s. 6d. ; 6 electro-plated dessert-forks, value 12s. 6d. ; 6 electro-plated table-spoons, brand “ H. B.” and “ H. 5.,” value 12s. 6d. ; 6 electro-plated afternoon-tea spoons, in black morocco case, value £2 ss. ; 6 electro-plated tea-spoons, shell-pattern, in black case, value £1 ss. ; 2 electro-plated bread-forks, value 125.; 2 electro-plated butter-knives, value 55.; a silver tea-pot, fluted, straight sides, oval-sbape shield on the side, value

£2; a small silver tea-pot, sloping sides, oval shape, value £1 10s. ; a silver egg-cruet, to hold four eggs, inscribed “Miss Orosbie, from her Fellow Employees, December, 1906,” value £2; 2 heavy silver-backed oval-shaped hairbrushes, engraved, value £4 ; a case of carvers, horn handles, silver-mounted at ends, in brown - leather case, value £1 17s. 6d.; 2 serviette-rings (silver), about 1£ in. wide, “8.0. ” on one, and “ A. 0.” on other ; a silver sugar-bowl, shape of a tulip, standing on four legs, flower at top of each leg, also on sides where handle fastens, value £1 17s. 6d. ; 2 black-backed clothes-brushes, white bristles, attached to a polished piece of wood with an oblong mirror in the centre, value £1; a silver breakfast-cruet stand, with three cut-glass bottles, value £1 10s. ; a new suit, navy-blue serge, Osborne, tailor, Cuba Street, value £5 ; a red-serge dressing-gown, cream lace round the neck, well worn, value 155.; a new pair of ladies’ tan shoes, straps and small buckle in front, size 4, value 145.; an old suit of clothes, navy-blue coat and vest, dark trousers, value £2 ; a very fine damask table-cloth, flower border, about 7 ft. by 7 ft., “P. B. Carman” stamped on it; a table-centre, pale-green sateen, heliotrope ribbon on edge, sprays of violets and storks, value ss. ; a black-serge skirt, value 155.; 6 serviettes, flower border resembling lilies (6 petioles)," P. Christchurch. FRANCIS WELLS, Boundary Road, a ladies’ gold ring, set with two diamonds and four pearls (one diamond on either side of pearl), value £2 10s.; a gold ring, set with four brilliants and three rubies, old-fashioned, value £1 10s. ; a gold ring, set with emeralds, rubies, and pearls, oldfashioned, value £2 ; a heavy gold ring, engraved, value £2; a gold tie-pin, set with two sapphire stones in bar, value £1 ss. ; old-fashioned gold filigree brooch made of ear-rings, good size, with large stone in centre, of brownish-yellow colour, value £2 ; a gold locket and chain, consisting of three fine chains in one with clasp, value £2 ss. ; a gold watchchain, value £1 ss. ; a gold locket with tracing of fern-leaf on one side in black, value 10s.; a gold-coloured casket, worked in pale blue, stands on four legs, value 7s. 6d. Christchurch. —3lst October last, from Colombo Street, property of ROBERT CRIGHLINGTON, 324 Oxford Terrace, a ladies’ bicycle (not a gentlemen’s as previously reported), No. 22755, 22 in. frame, free wheel, two brakes, Royal saddle ; value, £l2. Identifiable. (See Police Gazette, 1908, page 511.)
