Auckland. —loth ultimo, from a bedroom in the United Service Hotel, the property of NELLIE PARLBY, barmaid, a silver-mounted manicure set, consisting of two pairs of scissors, a file, a pair of clips, a silver-mounted hair-brush, a silver-mounted comb and mirror, a cut-glass silver-mounted hair-pin holder, a small gold medal, “ Presented by R. Young; won by W. H. Mercer, handicap singles, 1906, and 1907, M.E.8.C.” engraved on one side, and the figure of a man playing bowls on the other ; a small gold-chased locket set with pearls, photo of youth inside : total value, £7 14s. 9d. Identifiable.

Newton. —22nd ultimo, from a perambulator, property of WINNIERED DUMPER, domestic, Leighton Street, a ladies’ Geneva silver keyless hunting-watch, No. 1741974 ; a silver bellows and a dime attached to ring of watch : total value, £2 ss. Identifiable.

Newmarket.—loth ultimo, from the Railway-yard, property of JOHN NICHOLSON, builder, a sixteen-foot ladder, round rungs, painted slate-colour, “ Pelham, Victoria Street,” branded near the centre of ladder; value, £1 ss. Identifiable.

Wanganui. 27th ultimo, from the shop of ANTON CHRISTIANSEN, Taupo Quay, a ladies’ 18 ct. gold halfhunting watch, No. 52628, “M B.” and other initials on

back, blue figures on dial, glass missing; a silver hunting Swiss watch, No. 118367; an American Waltham open-faced railway-watch, front screws on; a metal open-faced watch, “ Drew, Wanganui,” on dial; also seven other common watches : total value, £l2. Some identifiable. Entrance gainei by breaking a pane of glass.

Wanganui. —23rd ultimo, from the Wanganui Museum, property of the TRUSTEES WANGANUI MUSEUM, ten Kruger coins, as follows : one half-sovereign, two half-crown pieces, two two-shilling pieces, two shilling-pieces, two six-penny-pieces, one threepenny-piece. The above-named coins were stolen from the show-case in the Museum, by removing some screws and lifting the top off the case. Not identifiable.

Carterton.— l2th ultimo, from GORDON HUGHAN, cycle agent, a gentlemen’s B.S.A. black-enamelled bicycle, upturned handle-bars, white grips, roller-brake on front wheel, free wheel, rat trap pedals, celluloid mud-guards, may have maker’s name, “ Gordon Hughan,” on frame, is in good order; value, £6 10s. Identifiable. A man who gave ihe name of Arthur Benge (probably fictitious) called at complainant’s shop on above date and hired the bicycle, saying he was going to Masterton and would return at 2 p.m. same day; he has not since been heard of, and may have disposed of the bicycle. Description: Age twenty-two or twenty-three, height 5 ft. 6 in. or 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, dark hair and oomplexion ; was wearing dark coat, vest, and cap, and dungaree pants, heavy Blucher boots. Dirty slouohing appearance.

Upper Hutt. —26th ultimo, from the dwelling of HENRY WILTON, Government Meat Inspector, Trentham, a gentlemen’s large 18 ct. gold signet ring, set with large bloodstone, square and compass engraved on it; a gold square and compass ; a large piece of uncut opal; and two sovereigns : total value, £B. Identifiable, except sovereigns.

Petone. —22nd ultimo, from the Working Men’s Club, property of JAMES FITZGERALD, agent, a dark-tweed Chesterfield coat, dark-brown plaid-worsted lining, double cuffs on sleeves, plain collar with silk facings ; value, £6. Identifiable.

Wellington. —l6th ultimo, from the dwelling of ATHOL WATERS, Tally Clerk, a gentlemen’s open-face keyless Swiss watch ; a square silver case, with green-plush back, violet-plush inside, figured on front with raised leaves ; a fiveshilling piece, slightly discoloured ; one bottle and a half of Bell’s whisky : total value, £2 3s. Identifiable, excepting whisky. Entrance was effected by forcing open a window.

Wellington. —2lst ultimo, from the dwelling of PATRICK MORAN, Island Bay, a 9ct. gold star pendant, size of a shilling, and set with pearls; a gold emu pendant; a gold brooch, sword-pattern, set with pearls, one pearl broken ; a gold brooch, interwoven-chain pattern, set with three pearls, one missing; a gold brooch, with three gold hearts attached ; a Bengal razor in red case ; and £2 10s. in gold and silver : total value, £ll 2s. 6d. All identifiable, excepting money. Entrance effected by forcing open a window.

Wellington South. —26th ultimo, from the bedroom of WILLIAM WILSON, engineer, 10 Stanley Street, a ladies’ 9 ct. gold keyless open-faced watch ; a gold muff-chain, with gold heart locket and gold-rimmed pendant for photos attached ; a gentlemen’s silver keyless open-faced stop-watch ; a 9 ct. double chain, twisted links; an 18 ct. gold mourningring, set with six or eight pearls, “ In memory of ” thereon; a gold curb bangle, with padlock attached; a gold bracelet, has been broken and soldered ; a gold bow watch brooch ; and two razors, one a Kropp : total value, £l6 13s. Entrance effected by the dining-room window.

Blenheim.— l4th ultimo, from the cloak-room of St. Patrick’s Hall, property of HECTOR BROWNE, draper, Market Street, a ladies’ navy-blue tweed overcoat, lined with navyblue cloth, and an inner lining of red flannel, “H. V. Brown ”on tag ; value, £3. Identifiable. G. Derry,” date, and place where won, and “N.Z.8.8.A.” inscribed on each; two silver medals in red-plush cases, two bars, and blue-silk ribbon attached to each, “ E. C. Derry,” date, and place where won inscribed on each.

Oamaru. —2lst or 22nd ultimo, from the passage of the Junction Private Hotel, property of JOHN ANDERSON, 198 Cumberland Street, Dunedin, a light-grey overcoat, size 4, band on each sleeve near the cuff, one inside pocket, two patch pockets on outside, may have “ Johnst m, Port Chalmers,” on tab, lined in sleeves only; value, £1 ss. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to a man named Wasley, age about twenty-two, height 5 ft. 7 in., full face, thick lips, dark complexion, dressed in light-grey suit and cap ; said to hive come from Waimite, where he worked for Dennis Flynn, farmer, McOullock’s Bridge.

Green Island.— 2Bth or 29th August last, from a gi in the Commercial Hotel yard, property of LEONARD CHILDS, 103 Cargill Road, South Dune lin, a dark-coloured three-quarter coat, two side pockets and two inside pockets, a small tear at the back near the bottom, “ Standard Brand, made in Dunedin,” on inside ; a black oil-skin carriage-rug, lined with green check material, has a small tear in one corner ; a book of art-union tickets for Oddfellow’s Bazaar, South Dunedin, numbered from 2451 to 2471.
