Birkenhead. - works, Chelsea, property of EDWARD ORRINGE, labourer, a gentlemen’s rolled-gold hunting keyless watch, much worn, gold hands, “ I. G.” in monogram on face, value £3 ; a silver curb-pattern chain, with a shield-shaped silver medal attached, value 10s. Identifiable.

Hunterville. — 31st ultimo, from a camp at Pohonui, property of WILLIAM HUGHES, labourer,, a yellow pocket-book, containing three £lO notes (“Wellington” stamped on one of them), two £5 notes and nineteen £1 notes (a small hole near the middle of one). Suspicion attached to William Smith and John Cameron. First: Age forty-six, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, half-caste Maori, cleanshaved except moustache turning grey, speaks English fluently. Second: Age thirty-three, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of Scotland, dark oomplexion, clean-shaved except dark moustache, very erect well-set-up figure. The pocket-book containing the money was taken from complainant’s coat, which was lying on a log close to where the suspects were working.
