INQUIRIES, ETC., FROM OUTSIDE NEW ZEALAND.

Sydney. —A warrant has been issued by the Water Police Bench for the arrest of Adolph Frederick Laurin, charged with wife - desertion. He is forty-three years of age, 5 ft. 9 in. high, thin build, fair complexion, blue eyes, light-brown hair and moustache only turning grey, wart between eyebrows, scar on back of one hand (supposed left); a Swede ; a tailor’s cutter. Supposed to be in New Zealand. Complainant, Maud Laurin, No. 20, Norton Street, Leichardt. (See New South Wales Police Gazette, 1907, page 322.)

Tumut (New South Wales). —A warrant has been issued by the Tumut Bench for the arrest of Albert Edward Ryrie Davies, charged with embezzling the sum of £ls, the property of the Postmaster-General. Offender is thirty-one years of age, 6 ft. high, medium build, 13 stone weight, fair complexion, clean-shaved, black hair worn long and brushed back over ears, large Roman nose; dressed in a green or grey sac suit, fancy vest, and Panama, grey Dr. Jim, or grey-tweed knock-about hat; slightly bow-legged ; has the appearance of an actor. Newcastle (New South Wales). —A warrant has been issued for William James Cornish, for wife-desertion. Description: Age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 10in., miner, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, grey eyes, two crowns on back of head, slightly knock-kneed. Supposed to have been in New Zealand since 1905, and believed to be in the Timaru district, or working in the coal-mines on the West Coast. Is said to be an habitual frequenter of racecourses. Extradition expenses deposited. (07/2171.)

Tasmania. Henry Bradshaw, age about thirty-three, height 5 ft. BJin., engineer and wheelwright, native of Hobart, medium build, thick shoulders, dark-brown hair, low forehead, dark eyes, large nose, small mouth, thin lips, pointed chin, long scowling face, sallow complexion, dark moustache, scar on top of forehead under the hair; very conceited. Is said to have been recently heard of in the Auckland District. If found, report to be furnished that steps may be taken for his extradition for deserting his wife and children. (07/1052.)

Lubec (America). —Inquiry requested for Albion Davis Pike, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 5 in., weight about 1101 b., dark-brown hair parted well over on left side and brushed back, dark-grey eyes, rather large straight nose, small mouth, oval face, heavy eyelids, right upper front tooth filled with light-coloured new porcelain filling, slight perpendicular scar on right side of upper lip ; took an interest in steam and gasolene boats. He was a junior at Harvard College, Cambridge, Mass., and disappeared on the 13th March last. His parents are anxious for him to return or write to them. (07/2170).
