INQUIRIES, ETC., FROM OUTSIDE NEW ZEALAND.
Melbourne.— On 7th instant, Bernard Bauer was murdered in his office, Modern Chambers, Collins Street, Melbourne, and diamonds and pearls value £2,000 stolen, also a gold Rotherham watch with monogram “ B.B.” in blue and gold on back, a thin double gold albert-chain. The murderer is identical with one Anderson, who obtained Bauer’s address on 6th instant, age forty-three, height 5 ft. 10 in., medium build, medium moustache between light and dark colour; wore a dark or brown suit and black boxer hat. Stated he came from Sydney. Special inquiry and watch to be kept. (07/1295.)
Darlinghurst.— A warrant has been issued by the Water Police Bench for the arrest of Harold Jones or Harper, charged with embezzling the sum of £l, the property of Catherine Gillard, 80 Dowling Street, Paddington. He is about 20 years of age (looks older), 5 ft. 9 in. high, medium build, brown eyes; d -essed in either a navy-blue or a dark-green sac suit with stripe running through material, and black hard hat; coughs a good deal. Supposed to have gone to New Zealand. /See New South Wales Police Gazette, 1907, page 207.)
Hobart. Rogers, age about forty, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of Tasmania, black moustache, dark complexion, stout build. He was at Opotiki on the 16th November, 1905, and said he was going to Gisborne or Hawke’s Bay. Inquiry on behalf of his children, who are destitute. (05/1916.)
