ABSCONDING FROM INDUSTRIAL SCHOOL.

The following boys absconded from Burnham Industrial School

Charles Victor Henry Bushell, age eighteen, height 5 ft. 7 in., carpenter, chubby face, well built, dark hair and complexion, grey eyes; dressed in moleskin knickers, tweed coat and cap, black stockings, heavy lace-up boots, committed from Waihi. Absconded 24th January last.

Bartholomew Russo, age nineteen, height 5 ft. 3 in., bootmaker, dark hair and complexion, face speckled with gunpowder, result of accident, brown eyes. Absconded 24th January.

James Young, age sixteen, height 5 ft. 8 in., farm labourer, fresh complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, scar on throat, well built; dressed in blue-dungaree trousers, tweed coat, cap, and heavy lace-up boots. Absconded 24th January.

Hercules William Daly, age sixteen, height 4 ft. 4 in., farm boy, very small for age, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, scowls when spoken to, bandy legs, leans forward when walking, short thickish build ; probably dressed in dark-tweed knicker suit. Absconded 11th February last.

William James Campbell, age eighteen, height 5 ft. 4 in., farm labourer, fair complexion, blue eyes, rather large nose, medium build, inclined to be round-shouldered ; dressed in dark-tweed suit. He was permitted to go to the Exhibition on 13th ultimo, but failed to return.

Alfred Walter Lewis, age seventeen, height 5 ft. 6 in., farm labourer, slight build, pale, freckled, sharp features, broken tooth in front, fair close-cut hair, bluish-grey eyes ; dressed in moleskin trousers, tweed coat, cap, and heavy lace-up boots. Absconded 20th February last.

Albert Henry Palmer, age eighteen, height 5 ft. 5 in., farm labourer, stout build, full round face, dark complexion and hair, walks with toes turned in, tattoo-mark above left elbow, mole over right eye, may go under the name of George Wright. Absconded 11th ultimo. (See Police Gazette, 1905, page 168.)

John Conway Murphy, age fourteen, height 5 ft., dark freckled complexion, large mouth, pug nose, brown curly hair, large brown eyes wide apart; dressed in moleskin knickers, red-and-black-striped jersey. Committed from Nelson in 1906; absconded on 12th ultimo.

John Woods, age eighteen, height 5 ft. 6 in., farm labourer, full round face, sallow complexion, sharp nose, thick-set build, dark hair ; dressed in dark-tweed suit and cap, and stand-up celluloid collar. Absconded on 16th ultimo.

Charles Edward Weigel, age eighteen, height 5 ft. 6 in., carpenter, brown hair, blue eyes, pale complexion, slightly freckled, small mole near left eye. Absconded on 16th ultimo. W,

William Henry Norris, age twenty, height 5 ft. 6 in., farm labourer, brown hair, fresh complexion, medium build, sharp features, blue eyes, plausible manner ; dressed in lightbrown tweed suit, cap, and stand-up collar. Absconded on 16th ultimo.
