PROPERTY STOLEN.
Newmarket. —22nd January last, from the Captain Cook Brewery office, property of JOHN WALTER DYER, brewery hand, a silver keyless watch, No. 967868; value, £3 10s. The watch was pav/ned for 4s. by a man who gave the name of BucJcland (probably fictitious), age about twenty-three, height about 5 ft. 6 in., dark hair and complexion, cleanshaved ; dressed in dark clothes and hard black hat. Newmarket. —l3th ultimo, from the malt-house, Kyber Pass Road, property of THOMAS JAMES MARSHALL, a gentlemen’s open-faced silver keyless watch, with metal chain attached, “ Saunders, Sydney,” on dial; value, £1 15s. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to a Man unknown, age about twenty-five, height 5 ft. 4 in. or 5 in., jockey appearance, slight build, dark hair, sallow complexion, clean-shaved ; dressed in dark clothes and Panama hat.
Wanganui.— 7th ultimo, from the wharf, property of CECIL MOORE, clerk, a gentlemen’s new Hudson’s freewheel bicycle, No. B 21190 under saddle, No. 1160 under near crank, upright handle-bars, rat-trap pedals, plain tire on front wheel, non-slipping tire on back wheel; value, £2O. Identifiable.
Denniston. —26th ultimo, from the WESTPORT COAL COMPANY, a piebald pony gelding, black head, white shoulders, black saddle-mark, hind-quarters black to hocks, aged, about 12| hands high, mane and tail docked ; value, £2O. Identifiable.
Christchurch.— 6th or 7th ultimo, from Colombo Street, property of ALFRED ENGLAND, timber - merchant, a gentlemen’s Rudge-Whitworth bicycle, rubber pedals, one rubber missing, brake on both wheels, straight handles, 26 in. frame, old celluloid grips ; value, £7. Identifiable.
Christchurch. —9th ultimo, from Parsons’s boardinghouse, property of JOHN TELFER, labourer, a gentlemen’s black Kaiapoi waterproof overcoat; value, £2 10s. Suspicion attached to Otto Peaterson, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of Germany, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes ; dressed in dark sac suit and straw hat. Star tattooed between right finger and thumb.
St. Andrew’s. —Ist or 2nd instant, from the premises of DONALD GRANT WATT, builder, a gentlemen’s RudgeWhitworth bicycle, No. 203946, ram’s-horn handles, Brooks saddle, three spokes broken in back wheel; value, £l2. Identifiable.
Fairlie.— Between 14th and 23rd ultimo, from the paddock of JAMES WILSON, a black, heavy, low-set draught mare, five years old, hairy legs, a few white hairs on one hind foot and white snip on nose, supposed to be in foal; value, £6O. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to William Lambert, age about twenty-six, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, dark-brown hair, slight build, clean-shaved, brown sunburnt complexion; generally wears dark suit and cap.
Dunedin. —Bth ultimo, from a building in Princes Street, property of WILLIAM ANDERSON, plumber, an American rolled-gold hunting-watch, has engraved inside “ Guaranteed to be made of two gold plates with composition between, and to wear twenty years ”; and a heavy silver curb-chain: value, £9 10s. Identifiable.
Dunedin.— Bth or 9th ultimo, from His Majesty’s Theatre, property of NELLIE WILSON, actress, a paste-diamond necklace, a paste-diamond heart, a paste-diamond half-moon brooch, a paste-diamond crescent brooch, a paste-diamond pendant. All large-pattern stage jewellery, French manufacture ; some of the imitation diamonds missing.
Dunedin.— 26th February last, from the hut of JABEZ LYONS, fisherman, a double-barrelled muzzle-loading gun, stock split, and bound with strong cord; value, £2. Suspicion attached to Edward Johnstone, age seventeen, height 4 ft., sailor, native of America, thin build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, clean-shaved ; dressed in dark-blue suit and dark cap.
