INQUEST.

Avondale. —On 12th instant the body of a man was found in a decomposed state in the sorub at Waterview. A sixchambered revolver was close to his right hand, a ohamber of which was discharged, and the bullet found inside his skull. Deceased was about fifty years of age, about 5 ft. 6 in. high, brown hair inclined to be sandy, small growth of hair on face, medium build, long fingers, had a full set of vulcanite false teeth ; dressed in dark-blue serge sac coat and vest, dark-tweed .trousers with white stripe, dark-blue shirt with collar attached, blaok tie, grey-flannel shirt, grey socks, grey merino underpants, blucher boots, dark waterproof overooat, dark-brown Dr. Jim hat. In his pockets there were five sovereigns, 16s. 9d. in silver, a metal watch and ohain, three keys attached to a steel chain, a metal whistle, a bonehandle pocket-knife, and a dark-blue-spotted white handkerchief. At the inquest, held on the 13th instant, the jury returned a verdiot of death by a revolver-bullet self inflicted.
