Deserting Wives and Families, &c.
Auckland. — Ralph Ormston is charged on warrant with disobeying an order of Court to pay 10s. a week towards the support of his illegitimate child. Description : A native of England, canvasser, thirty-three years of age, 5 ft. 6Jin. high, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, large broken nose, stout build, scar on temple and on nose. Was seen in Tasmania in March last.

Napier. —George Bennett, charged with failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, has been arrested by Detective C. R. Broberg and Acting-Detective S. Rawle, Wellington police, on information supplied by Constable F. Pidgeon, Hastings police.

Napier. —Richard Valentine Radford, charged with wifedesertion, was at Dannevirke on the 3rd instant, and left there on the sth instant, supposed for Wellington. He was wearing a dark-coloured Chesterfield coat with velvet collar and a black-felt hard hat; had a skull-cap with him.
Feilding. — James Williams is charged on warrant of commitment to Wanganui Gaol for one month for disobeying an order of Court to pay £47 135., arrears due for the maintenance of his illegitimate child. Description: A native of New Zealand, labourer, thirty-three years of age, 6 ft. 1 in high, slim straight build, ruddy complexion, fair hair, sandy moustache only, blue eyes, eyebrows turned up at the ends, squeaky voice, very small hands. Supposed to have gone towards Wanganui.
Foxton. — Reuben Calvert Alsford is charged on warrant with deserting his wife, Amy Annie Alsford, since the 26th December last. Description : A native of London, a trimmer and labourer, thirty-one years of age, 5 ft. 7 in. high, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, usually clean-shaved except moustache ; fond of drink. Photograph filed in Inspector’s Office, Wellington, M.F. 1900 (see Police Gazette, 1900, page 46.) He was last heard of in Wellington on the 28th December last.
Wellington.— James Melvin Mackenzie is charged on warrant with failing to provide for the maintenance of his wife and children. Description: A native of Scotland, exclerk in money-order branch of post-office, New Plymouth, fifty years of age, about 5 ft. 5 in. high, slight build, pale complexion, broad forehead, narrow chin, prominent blue eyes, small thin nose, sunken cheeks, prominent lips, dark-brown hair almost grey and very thin on top, rather short full beard almost white. He recently received a retiring-allow-ance of £6OO, and may attempt to leave the colony. Was last heard of at Devonport, Auckland.
Oamaru. — Harry Sinclair is charged on warrant with failing to provide for the future maintenance of his illegitimate child. Description: A native of New Zealand, farmlabourer, twenty-one years of age, 5 ft. 8 in. high, slight build, fair hair and complexion, grey eyes, sharp features, clean-shaved.

Invercargill. —Thomas Findlay, charged with disobeying an order of Court for the maintenance of his wife, has been arrested by Constable E. J. Whitehouse, Feilding police.
