Deserters from Her Majesty’s Service.
From H.M.S. “Porpoise,” at Lyttelton. On 13th October, 1900. (See Police Gazette, 1900, page 234.) Arthur Edward Turner, A. 8., twenty-five years of age, a native of Yorkshire, 5 ft. 6 in. high, black hair, sallow complexion, scar on right buttock, wart on right hand and ear. Ernest Grace Wingham, ordinary seaman, nineteen years of age, a native of Portsmouth, 5 ft. 5f in. high, darkbrown hair, blue eyes, fair complexion, E.W. and bracelet tattooed on left wrist, heart and arrow on right forearm.
From H.M.S. “ Porpoise,” at Wellington. On 2nd and 4th November, 1900. Arthur C. Barnes, A. 8., twenty-five years of age, a native of Ireland, 5 ft. in. high, light-brown hair, blue eyes, fair complexion, tattoo-marks on left forearm, sailor tattooed on back of left band. James Bundy, ordinary seaman, twenty-three years of age, a native of England, 5 ft. 4 in. high, brown hair, brown eyes, dark complexion. John Pease, A. 8., twenty years of age, a native of Ireland, 5 ft. 4£ in. high, auburn hair, blue eyes, freckled. “ Love to Nell ” tattooed on right arm. A reward of £3 each is offered for the apprehension of the above offenders, in addition to £5 each from the Colonial Government.
