Deserting Wives and Families, &c.
Port Albert.— James Charles Booth is charged on warrant with disobeying an order of Court to pay ss. a week for the support of his illegitimate child. Description: Twenty years of age, 5 ft. 11 in. high, fresh complexion, brown hair, medium build, small moustache. Offender left the district about two months ago, and may attempt to leave the colony. Complainant, Mildred Peterson, Port Albert.
(See Police Gazette, 1899, page 209.) Paeroa. —Robert Tyrer Penk, charged with disobeying an order of Court for tbe maintenance of his child, has been arrested by Constable N. Scott, Aratapu police, and lodged in Mount Eden Goal.

Pahiatua.— William Thomas Lawry, charged with deserting his wife, has been arrested by Constable J. Franklin, Ashhurst police, and remanded to Pahiatua.

Masterton.— Walter Scott, alias Peel, charged with failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, has been arrested by Sergeant W. W. Smart, Hastings police, and the charge withdrawn.
(See Police Gazette, 1900, page 203.) Wellington. —Frank King, charged with failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, has been arrested by Acting-Detective F. S. Cox, Wellington police.
(See Police Gazette, 1900, page 234.) Wellington.— James Ernest McLaughlin, charged with disobeying an order of Court for the support of his child, has been arrested by Deteotive L. D. Benjamin, Napier police, and discharged on payment of arrears due.

Blenheim.- John Dart Bernard Thorpe is charged on warrant with disobeying an order of Court to pay 12s. a week towards the support of his wife and family. Description : A native of New Zealand, a labourer, twenty-eight years of age, 5 ft. 4§ in. high, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes ; right elbow injured and hand orippled. The sum of £l2 was in arrears on the 12th October, 1900. (See Police Gazette, 1900, pages 108 and 119.) He paid £1 4s. on the order made at Palmerston North, and then left. No trace can be obtained of him since.
Christchurch. Frederick Alexander Lukey is charged on warrant with disobeying an order of Court to pay 7s. 6d. a week for the support of his mother. Description: Colonial, a coachman and baker, twenty-three years of age, 5 ft. 11 in. high, stout build, fair complexion, fair hair, grey eyes, small fair moustache ; usually dresses neatly and well ; was seen in September last, and is now supposed to be in the Wellington District. The sum of £5 ss. is now in arrears, up to the 9th October, 1900.
Christchurch. — Alexander Charles Mills is charged on warrant of commitment to Lyttelton Gaol for one month in default of paying 4s. a week for the support of his illegitimate child. The sum of £4 Bs. was due on the 17th April, 1900. Defendant is a photographer and canvasser, about thirty-one years of age, 5 ft. 11 in. high, stout build, round full face, dark hair, brown moustache, slight scar on forehead, deep voice ; generally dressed in light-tweed suit, and tweed cap.

Christchurch. —Charles William Winter, charged with deserting his wife, has been arrested by Constable J. J. Cassells, Christchurch police.

Christchurch. —Thomas Edward Hudson, charged with deserting his wife, has been arrested by Constable H. G. Hunt, Oamaru police, and remanded.

Timaru. —Edward Eric Redmond, charged with deserting his wife, has been arrested by Constable C. Dalton, Timaru police, and ordered to pay 10s. a week towards the support of his family.
Dunedin.— Ernest Grant is charged on warrant with failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child. Description: A foundry-hand, twenty-three years of age, about 5 ft. 10 in. high, slight build, fair complexion and hair, clean-shaved, long features, small mouth, prominent nose, toes slightly turned in, hair worn long over forehead. Employed at Cousins and Black’s foundry as a skilled labourer; he left there on the 12th May, and has not been seen since. Complainant, Margaret Rankin.
