Deserting Wives and Families, &c.
(See Police Gazette, 1899, page 266.) Coromandel. —Arthur Wellesley Holland, charged with disobeying an order of Court to maintain his children, has been arrested by Constable P. J. McGovern, Pukekohe police, and conveyed to Mount Eden Gaol.
Napier.— Patrick P. Grant is charged on warrant with disobeying an order of Court, made on the 13th Januaiy, 1896, to pay 10*. a week towards the support of his child, May Elizabeth Grant. Description : Irish, a labourer, fifty-nine years of age, 5 ft. 6J in. high, sallow complexion, brown hair turning grey, light-grey eyes, long parrot-nose, partly bald, no upper teeth, moles on chest, shaved except dark goatee; when last seen was wearing a dark-tweed or serge suit, and black-felt hat. (See Police Gazette, 1897, page 102.) Ho left Napier during the second week of October last by steamer for Auckland, and spoke of returning to the Thames, where he formerly worked as a miner. The sum of £7l was in arrears up to the 3rd November, 1899. Complainant, Mary Grant, Hastings.
Wellington.— Charles Hillson is charged on warrant with failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child. Description : English, twentyfour years of age, 5 ft. 9 in. or 10 in. high, stout build, dark complexion, dark hair, shaved except dark moustache ; wears a grey or dark suit; a butcher by trade, but has been re-
cently employed as a ’bus-guard. May have gone to Napier or to Gisborne, where ho has relatives. Complainant, Eliza Bramley, 5, John Street.
