Auckland.— Mrs. J. C. Sharland, O’Rourke Street, reports stolen from her yard, on the 28th ultimo, two ladies’ white embroidered petticoats, a black fancy lustre skirt lined with black linenette, and a ladies’ white flannelette nightdress trimmed with silk flannelette ; value, in all, £2 17s. 6d.
Hastings. —-Robert Petherick, labourer, reports stolen, on the 25th ultimo, a gentlemen’s Zealandia bicycle, Dunlop tires, 28 in. by If in., outrigger handles, Elswick hubs, and silver King of the Road lamp ; value £2O.
(See Police Gazette, 1897, page 190.) Manaia. —Thomas Edwin Crowhurst’s bicycle has been found, minus the front wheel, and much broken.
S.S. “ Kumara,” Lyttelton.— Charles Panie, steward, reports stolen, on the 31st ultimo, a silver Geneva openfaced watch, maker’s name “ Lecomp ” on face, number unknown; and a rolled-gold chain, small links, with fancy watch-key attached; value, £2 ss. Firemen suspected. The steamer left on the Ist instant for Timaru, and proceeds thence to Napier and Wellington.
Christchurch.— The Rev. Charles Paap reports stolen from outside the Gymnasium Hall, Madras Screet., on the 10th ultimo, a gentlemen’s B.S.A. bicycle, No. 3612, almost new, painted black, 28in. frame, lamp and bell attached; value, £lB.
Timaru. —John Carter, labourer, reports stolen from his clothing near the wharf, on the 28th ultimo, a silver Waltham hunting-watch, No. 1046348, very much worn; value, £5.
Glenavy. —James Thompson, blacksmith, Waikakahi, reports stolen from his premises, between the 21st and 28th ultimo, ten bars of iron, each 17 ft. by 1 in. by £ in., marked in white paint “ I.C. and Co., Oamaru ” ; value, £9.
Dunedin. —James McLeod, merchant, Edward Street, St. Clair, reports stolen, on the 13th ultimo, a dandiedinmont dog, six years old, long body, short grey hair, lightgrey head, long tail, answers to “Roger”; and an English terrier dog, pure-bred, black coat, brown points, about an inch off tail, answers to “ Zulu ” : value, £5 each.
Invercargill.— The Southland Hospital Board report stolen from the Hospital, on the 9th or 10th ultimo, two new skeleton door-mats, oval shape, made of cocoanutmatting and manila, size 2 ft. by 2 ft. 2 in. Suspicion is attached to Walter Russell, who was recently discharged from Invercargill Gaol. Description: A native of New Zealand, twenty years of age, 5 ft. 6f in. high, medium build, fair complexion, grey eyes, light hair, medium nose, small chin, 9 stone Blb. weight; dressed in a dark-tweed suit, and lace-up boots. (See Police Gazette, 1899, page 239.) Supposed to have gone towards Winton.
