Sol. Solomons, alias Samuels, alias Harrison, is inquired for by the Auckland police with a view of serving him with a notice of fine for illegally betting. Description: A Jew, spieler, twenty-five years of age, 5 ft. 3 in. high, dark-brown hair, dark-brown eyes, Homan nose, two scars between right thumb and forefinger. (See Police Gazette, 1896, page 210.) He is supposed to have left for Sydney early in July last. Sydney Arthur Brierly is inquired for by the Auckland 1 police for the purpose of serving him with a notice of fine for illegally betting. Description : A native of New Zealand, a spieler, tw r enty-five years of age, 5 ft. 7 in. high, medium build, Ardsh complexion, brown hair and eyes, clean-shaved. He is 'supposed to have cleared out for Sydney early last month. John Costello is inquired for by the Auckland police with fn, view' of serving a notice of fine upon him for refusing to quit licensed Description : A native of New Zealand, a labourer, | hirty-four years of age, 5 ft. 8 in. high, pale complexion, gather thin features, brown hair, generally shaved -clean except light-brown moustache; usually dresses in dark clothes; very fond of drink. Last seen at Wanganui on the 25th May, 1898.
William Howell is inquired for by the Auckland police with a view to serving a notice of fine upon him. Description : English, a tripe-vendor or butcher, fifty-four years of age, 5 ft. 10 in. high, medium build, sallow complexion, clean-shaved except dark-brown moustache turning grey ; dressed in a dark-brown tweed suit and hard brown hat; speaks with a strong English accent. Supposed to have gone to Dunedin.
Thomas Reid is inquired for by the Auckland police with a ;/ / view of compelling him to contribute towards the support of his illegitimate child. Description: Colonial, a native of New Zealand, a baker, about twenty-five years of age, about 5 ft. 8 in. high, dark complexion, dark eyes, generally clean-shaved, three upper front teeth broken and decayed, smart appearance. Last heard of at Kohu Kohu, Hokianga. His parents reside at Milton, near Dunedin.
Bernard Stephen Carlton is inquired for by his brother, John Carlton, Hasfings, Hawke/s-Rav. Description: Irish, a groceiy-thpjfty-eight years of aAxfs/t r 8J in. high, stout build, light-brown hnjl‘ audinoifst/cse,, fresh complexion, slightly round-shopfilcred and/bow-legged. Last heard of in March, 1897, When his address was, Gtohndi Post-office, Geraldton, Johnston River, North Queensland, and is known to J. Carroll, Clothing-importer, Flinders Street, Townsville. He may have returned to this colony.
v (See Police Gazette, 1898, page 121.) Edwin Bentley, alias Edward Bentley, alias George Brown Bentley, has been found at Inglewood, and served with a notice of fine.
Lizzie Williams is inquired for by the Dunedin police, at the instance of her mother, who is anxious to hear of her whereabouts. Description: A domestic servant, fifteen years of age, stout and tall for her age, dark complexion, dark-brown hair worn in a large plait down the back, large blue eyes; dressed in a navy-blue skirt, brown cape trimmed with fur, and black-felt hat.
