Joseph Stitt is inquired for by his father, residing at Daniel Streo#, NewtolL description : Fifteen years of blue eyes, full face ; dresg^pina light ai>u vest/ and blue-serge pants. May be working fbif a blacksmith. Has relatives at Fordell, near Wanganui, and at Pahautanui.

Hugh McLean is inquired for by the New Plymouth police. Description: Colonial (Scotch parentage), a labourer, about thirty-four years of age, 6 ft. high, medium build, fair complexion, blue eyes, fair brownish hair, may be wearing beard whiskers and moustache of same colour. He served in the New Zealand Police Force from the Ist July, 1882, to the 22nd January, 1887, when he was discharged at his own request at Queenstown. His parents reside in Otago, and his married sister, Mrs. Maggie Hannington, at Cox Street, Ashburton. He was last seen about five weeks ago at Palmerston North, en route for Wellington, and may have gone to the Greymouth district, where he is well known. It is not desirable that he should be apprised of this inquiry, which is made at the instance of T. S. Weston, Esq., solicitor, New Plymouth, with the view of compelling him to contribute towards the support of his wife and child, whom he has deserted.
Charles Laidley, settler, of Levin( is inquired for by the Wellington police at the instarma^rWalter Leslie. Description :En g 1 i shwabo ut. tbjrty-fi W yea m of age, about 5 ft. 6 in. high, slight chmplexioci, dark hair, fair moustache only. Jli§£arfast so'en in Wellington on the Bth instant. May have gone tc/Martinboruhgh district, where his brother-in-law, named Wallis, has a station.
