Missing Friends.
Thomas Gorsford Garstang is inquired for by the Roslyn (Dunedin) police, at the instance of his wife. Description : A native of Preston, Lancashire, thirty-nine years of age, about sft. 3in. high, very dark hair eyes and complexion, usually shaved on chin, very long nose. He was a secondhand dealer at Dunedin, and sold out about two years and nine months ago. In May last was at Wellington, ; and may again visit there during the present exhibition season. It is not desirable that he should be made aware of this inquiry as proceedings will be taken against him for the maintenance of his wife and six children, who are totally unprovided for.
Elizabeth Jane Phillips is inquired for by the Dunedin police with the view of compelling her to comply; with an order of Court to pay 3s. a week towards the support of her illegitimate child in the Caversham Industrial School. Description : A native of New Zealand, a domestic servant, twenty-three years of age, sft. high, stout build, fresh complexion, fair hair, good-looking; wore, when last seen, a dark maroon dress, black jacket, and sailor’s straw hat with black band. She was in a situation at Palmerston South for a few weeks, and left no word as to her future movements.
Thomas Reeves is inquired for at the instance of Elizabeth Rosina Reeves, 30, Pacific Street, Newcastle, New South Wales. Description: English, a fireman, thirty-two years of age, sft. 6in. or 7in. high, stout build, dark complexion, tattooed on arms, has a peculiar expression about the eyes ; usually wears blue-serge clothes. He left Dunedin for Auckland about twelve months ago. Information to the Inspector of Police, Dunedin.
