Deserting Wives and Families, &c.

Wellington. —Richard Morgan is charged on warrant with disobeying an order of Court for the maintenance of his father. Description : A native of the colony, a labourer, twenty-four years of age, sft. 3in. high, fair complexion, brown hair, grey eyes. (See Police Gazette, 1893, page 146.) He was £4 Bs. in arrears on the 2nd July last.

Invercargill. —Colin Clark is charged on warrant with deserting his wife since January last. Description : Scotch, a labourer, fifty-one years of age, sft. ll|in. high, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, hazel eyes, broad nose, scar on right wrist and under left eye ; very much addicted to drink. (See Police Gazette, 1893, page 131.) Will probably seek employment on a station. Complainant, Catherine Clark, Wright’s Bush, near Invercargill.

Temuka. —Tom Davis is charged on warrant with having deserted his wife Mary since the 19th instant. Description : English, a farmer and skin-dealer, forty-two years of age, about sft. 7in. high, darlc-brown hair beard whiskers and moustache turning grey, drooped and very round shoulders, medium build, fresh complexion, speaks rather loud, fond of drink; dressed in a black-worsted coat, grey-tweed trousers and vest, and soft black-felt hat. Supposed to have about £IOO with him. He went south on the above date, and will probably endeavour to leave the colony. Photograph at Inspector’s office, Christchurch. Complainant and her eight children are left totally destitute, and dependent on charitable aid.

Waimate (Canterbury). —William Beasley, charged with deserting his wife and children, was seen between Waimate and Timaru on the 20th instant, going north, on foot. He was wearing a blue-serge suit, hard black hat, and elasticside boots; and had a swag covered with a light-coloured quilt.
