Missing Friends.
Moore. Moore, who served in the New Zealand Armed Constabulary (Taranaki District) from the 25th June, 1879, to the 17th May, 1881, and from Ist October, 1881, to sth April, 1882. Description: A native of County Tipperary, Ireland, about thirty-seven years of age, sft. 7in. or Sin. high, fair or brown hair, blue eyes, fresh complexion, smart active appearance, a farmer or gardener, Protestant religion. Supposed to have gone to Sydney. Inquired for by his sister, M. Moore, Newtown Anner, Clonmel, Ireland, through Major Tuke, Opunake.
Johnston-King. —lnformation is requested concerning the whereabouts of Elizabeth Johnston, who left Temuka on the Ist ultimo in company with a man named King. She is twenty-three years of age, sft. 2in. high, swarthy complexion, black hair and eyes, medium, built, ordinary looking, a widow ; dressed in black clothes, and white-straw hat. King is a colonial, a labourer, twenty-two years of age, about sft. lOin. high, dark-brown hair, fair moustache and very small side-whiskers, reddish pug nose. It is thought that they will marry, and seek employment on a station. Inquiry is made by the Timaru police on behalf of the South Canterbury Charitable Aid Board, by whom her chidren are now supported.
Frank Cassidy is inquired for by the Masterton police with the view of compelling him to contribute towards the maintenance of his son in St. Mary’s Industrial School, Nelson. Description: Irish, a labourer, about fifty years of age, about sft. sin. high, withered and wrinkled appearance, scraggy board whiskers and moustache turning grey, front teeth very black and bad. He was in Wellington during June last, and spoke of going to Canterbury, where he had been farming some years ago.
(See Police Gazette, 1893, page 136.) Re Thomas Hassell, inquired for by the Inspector of Police, Dunedin: Thomas Alfred Halsall, who is identical with tins man, has been arrested at Masterton for obtaining money by false pretences, and committed for trial.
John Lynch is inquired for by the Education Department with a view of compelling him to contribute towards the support of his three children in St. Mary’s Industrial School. Description: Irish, a labourer, forty-one years of age, sft. high, fresh complexion, dark hair, grey eyes, long sharp nose, large mouth and chin, woman in wreath and M. Lee tattooed on left arm ; fond of drink. (See Police Gazette, 1889, page 167 ; 1890, page 144; and 1893, page 177.) He was at Ohingaiti in February last, and will probably turn up at one of the North Island townships.
