Deserting Wives and Families, &c.
Greymouth. —John Lees is charged on warrant with refusing to provide for the support of his illegitimate child by Bertha Reardon since the 28th August last. Description: A native of the colony, twenty-seven years of age, sft. 61 in. high, black hair, blue eyes, slight build, dark complexion, sharp features, black moustache only; fond of horses. Supposed to have gone to the North Island. His father is a horse-dealer at Wanganui.
Greymouth. —William Barnes is charged on warrant with refusing to support his illegitimate child by Mary Doyle since the 19th March, 1894. Description : A native of Victoria, a bridge contractor, about thirty-five years of age, sft. Sin. high, fair complexion, stout build, full face, blue eyes, lightbrown hair, clean-shaved except moustache; usually wears a hard black-felt hat and paget coat. Is said to be leaving the colony.
Kaiapoi. —Joseph Drabble, jun., is charged on warrant of commitment to Lyttelton Gaol for two months’ labour for disobeying an order of Court to pay ss. a week towards the
support of his illegitimate child by Charlotte Cassidy, of Woodend. He is a colonial, a factory hand, nineteen years of age, about sft. high, stout build, fair hair and complexion, very small fair moustache only, pale pimpled face, blue eyes, nose slightly turned up; dressed in a dark-blue sac-coat, grey-tweed trousers, and hard black hat; smart appearance when walking. Has relatives at Nelson Brothers’ works, Hastings, Hawke’s Bay, and may go there.
