Horse- and Cattle-Stealing.
Auckland. —Angus Gordon, Epsom, reports stolen from a paddock, on the 29tli ultimo, a bay mare, 15£ hands high, short mane and tail, no brands, light bay round muzzle, shod all round, in foal; value, £B.
Tk Aroha.— James Forsman, Gordon Settlement, reports stolen, about the 7th ultimo, a yellow cow, well made, straight back, in full milk, about three years old, ono horn broken and hanging loose, unbranded, very large tuft on tail; value, £6 10s.
Kawakawa. —Henry Charles Burleigh, Waihau Valley, Okaikau, Bay of Islands, reports stolen during the past six months one hundred and seventeen sheep, mixed ages and sexes, wethers having a heart-shaped piece out of right ears, ewes the same out of left ears, old sheep a piece out of the lower part of the right ears ; value, £6O.

Ngapara. —Stealing Edward Menlove’s two mares : William Oliver has been arrested by Constable W. Pouhy, Roxburgh Police, for this offence, and committed for trial by the Oamaru Bench. Mares recovered.
Ashburton. —Henry Constable Segers, draper, reports stolen from his paddock, on the 11th or 12th instant, a chestnut mare, ten years old, 15£ hands high, unbranded, cut from barbed-wire inside near thigh, shod with bar shoes on fore feet, well-bred, fast buggy-trotter; value £2O. Had on a canvas cover with leather crupper; value, £l.

Re Edward Mortimer, charged with stealing Reremoana’s racing-mare “ Moutoa” : Offender is probably identical with a man of same name wanted for larceny at Napier. (See “ Stealing otherwise,” &c., in this Gazette.)
