Appointments as Constables. William JonN Butler, No. 668. John Osmers, No. 669.
Rewards. Chief Detective W. Campbell, Wellington Police, has been awarded £8 for arresting John Williams, a deserter from H.M.S. “ Curaqoa.” (93/IGG2.) Chief Detective W. Campbell has been awarded £2, and Constables J. Black and It. Armstrong £3 each, from the Reward Fund, for special services in the detection of Edward Cloke and William Burton, who have been convicted on numerous charges of housebreaking and larceny in Wellington. (93/1762.) Acting-Sergeant E. Mackay, and Constables C. Stanyer, W. M. Jones, and J. McDonald, Auckland Police, have been awarded £3 each for arresting four stragglers from H.M.S. “ Curaqoa.” (93/1756.)
Agricultural Statistics

The police are requested to render the usual assistance in the collection of agricultural statistics, to be made in February next, under the direction of the Superintendent Collectors, whose appointments are notified under “ Extracts from New Zealand Gazette ” in this issue. Overcrowding Steamers
(Circular No. 23/93.) Inspectors in charge of districts are directed to give all the assistance in their power to the Customs officials in their attempts to suppress overcrowding steamers with excursionists when running pleasure-trips, on holidays and at all other times.
