Auckland.— Thomas Alcock, Mount Roskill, reports stolen from his clothing at the railway workshops, Newmarket, on the 27th ultimo, a silver lever open-faced watch, No. 229G1, maker Benson, London, slightly worn, machine-cut back, gold hands, one keyhole only ; value £5.

Dargaville. —Arthur Graham, Kaeo, reports stolen from a room at the Dargaville Racecourse, on the 24th ultimo, an imitation Waterbury watch, a collar-stud, and necktie ; value £1 2s. Gd.

Stratford. —George Lunnie reports stolen from a tunnel on the Opunake Road, ten miles from Stratford, between the 27th and 30th April last, a silver Waltham lever huntingwatch, No. 1160761, cases much worn, slight dent in front one; value £7.

Ashburton. —Samuel Wright, farmer, Winchester, reports stolen from the waiting-room at the Ashburton Railwaystation, on the 6th ultimo, a black Gladstone bag, containing a ladies’nightdress, pair of evening-shoes, flannel jacket, black-silk apron trimmed with black lace ; also a black-and-white-check shawl; value £3.

Lyttelton. —Captain Edward Bain, H.M.S. “ Ringdove,” reports stolen from the boatshed, Dampier’s Bay, on the 29th or 30th ultimo, a canvas boat-cover, nearly new, 20ft. by about 10ft., “Baxter and Son, Dundee,” printed thereon, also has the navy mark, and blue lines running through ; value £2.

Little River (Canterbury). —Arthur John Joblin reports stolen from a paddock, during the night of the 22nd April last, a brown-tweed Inverness cape, nearly new; value £2 17s. 6d.

Waimate. —The Railway Commissioners report stolen from the platform at Studholme Junction, during the night of the 26th ultimo, a tarpaulin, supposed branded N.Z.R. Am ■, value £3.

Milton (Otago). —Henry Coomb reports stolen from his clothing at the football-grounds, on the 24th ultimo, a silver lever hunting watch, No. 63325, maker Rotherham ; value £6.

Palmerston North. —Leonard Styles (alias Mancktelow), for default of maintenance of his children, has been arrested hv Constable J. Madden, Wellington Police, and committed i- the Terrace Gaol.

Greymouth. —Thomas Anderson is charged on warrant with having deserted his wife, Alice Roda Anderson, since the 14th February, 1893. Description: A Norwegian, speaks English well, a sawyer and bushman, about forty-five years of age, sft. lOin. high, medium build, square shoulders, sallow complexion, large blue eyes, scar over right one, heavy eyebrows, dark-brown hair, whiskers and moustache of a lighter colour and worn long, stoops when walking, fond of drink; generally dressed decently. He was served with a summons at Westport on the 3rd April last, and since then no trace of him can be obtained. His wife and children are now in receipt of charitable aid.

Christchurch. —William Smyth is charged on warrant with having deserted his wife, Jane Grace Smyth, Wordsworth Street, Sydenham, since the 28th April last. He is English, a plasterer, sixty years of age, sft. 6in. high, medium build, sallow complexion, grey hair beard and moustache ; dressed in a blue-cloth coat, moleskin trousers, and woollen peaked cap. Travels with a knife-grinding machine.

Christchurch. —Frederick Jennett, for disobeying an order of the Court, has been arrested by Constable James Gantley, Wellington Police, and remanded to Christchurch.

Invercargill. —John Hunter is charged on warrant with disobeying an order of the Court, made on the 10th February last, to pay 15s. a week towards the support of his three children. Description: A native of the colony, a bootmaker, thirty-five years of age, sft. Sin. high, medium build, dark complexion, clean-shaved except small dark-brown moustache, brown eyes, addicted to drink.
