Housebreaking, Stealing from the Person and from Dwellings.

Auckland. —Maggie Liddle, Mount Eden Road, reports stolen from her dwelling, on the 13th ultimo, a silver Geneva, open-faced watch, No. 24771, maker Bartly, Glasgow, private No. 4192, and TR on inside edge of case, metal dial, gold figures, old; value £2 10s.

Auckland. —Robert Kelly, Newton Road, reports stolen from his shop, on the 11th ultimo, a pair of men’s elasticside goloshed boots, pointed toe-caps, size 7 ; value 14s. 6d.

Auckland. —Louis Kilkelli, oyster-dealer, Wellesley Street, reports stolen from between two mattresses in his bedroom, on the 11th ultimo, a common black-leather purse with steel clasp, containing three £5 and two £1 notes, eighteen sovereigns, and an American 20-dollar gold piece, the latter and purse identifiable. Suspicion attached to Edward Glover and Charles Walker. The former is a colonial, twenty-two years of age, sft. sin. high, medium build, sallow •complexion, full dark eyes, black hair, and small moustache only; a spieler. Auckland.— Richard Hobbs, draper, Upper Queen Street, reports stolen from his shop-door, on the 22nd ultimo, a pair of light-brown hair-cord trousers, size 7 ; value £l. Identifiable.

Auckland. — William Kennedy, Newmarket Street, reports stolen from his bedroom, on the 21st or 22nd ultimo, a dark-red-leather purse containing £7 10s. or 125., and two small keys. Suspicion attached to Frederick Gable, a carpenter, &e., living in Victoria Avenue, Mount Eden.

Palmerston North. —Parker Brothers, Terrace End, report that, between 8 p.m. on the 18th and 8 a.m. on the 19th ultimo, their store was broken into, and £1 in silver, twelve packets of cigarettes, and 21b. of tobacco, value in all £1175., stolen. Boys suspected.

Tauranga. —Cecil Kensington, Oropi, reports stolen from an unoccupied dwelling, about the 20tli September last, two windows, sft. by 30in. each, two panes in each division, painted dirty white ; value £2. Identification doubtful.

Hunterville. Antonio George, hawker, reports stolen from his bedroom at Peterkin’s boardinghouse, Ohingaiti, on the 22nd ultimo, six silk handkerchiefs, viz., two blue- and white-flowered, one all red, one white with blue and red border, one red in centre with blue and red border, and one pea-green ; all flowered ; value £1 7s. Identifiable.

Wellington. —Murray and Casey, drapers, Cuba Street, report stolen from their shop-door, about the 22nd ultimo, a piece (42yds.) of white table-damask, private mark |_/Z> and 3s. Gd.; value £7 7s. Identification doubtful.

Wellington. —James Smith, draper, Cuba Street, reports stolen from inside his shop, on the 25th ultimo, two ladies’ blouses, one heliotrope, the other cream-coloured, gathered at necks and sleeves ; value £1 11s. Identification doubtful.

Westport. —Frederick Sinclair, groom, Worth’s Circus, reports stolen from bis clothing, on the 23rd ultimo, a silver Geneva watch, seconds-hand broken, FS engraved on the outside of inner cap and inside of outer cap, silver chain, long links, and brass bar; value £3. Suspicion attached to Patrick McGarril, living in Westport. Denniston. —John Julian St. James, pedlcr, reports stolen from him while drunk, on the 18th ultimo, an English silver lever hunting-watch, No. 28485, maker N. Parker, old, a small piece chipped off the dial near the figure six; value £4. Suspicion attached to Joseph Harrison, who is supposed to have gone to Totara Flat via Westport. Greymouth. —You Hun, Rutherglen, reports that, about 4 p.m. on the Bth ultimo, his dwelling was broken into, and the following stolen : A silver watch-chain, long links, with silver locket and fish-shaped pendant attached ; a nearly-new Waterbury watch, a plain gold hoop-ring, and an engraved silver ditto; value £3. Suspicion attached to a swagger, who gave the name of Frank Allen, about sft. 7in. high, medium build, fair complexion, reddish beard ; dressed in old tweed clothes, black-felt hat, and watertight boots ; carried a tent, blankets, &c. Probably identical with Charles Allen, vicle Police Gazette, 1892, page 143. Supposed gone to Christchurch or Hokitika.

Dunedin. —Donald McAuley, railway-signalman, Moray Place, reports that, between 2.30 p.m. on the 18th and 12.30 a.m. on the 19th ultimo, his dwelling was broken into, and an 18-carat gold watch-chain, curb-pattern, with a jubilee sovereign, encircled by a gold ring as pendant, value £lO, stolen.

Dunedin. —Mrs. Margaret B. Langmuir, Alexandra Street, Caversham, reports stolen from her dwelling, between the -6th and 10th ultimo, a ladies’ gold Geneva open-faced watch, No. 40287, maker unknown, a solid gold seal, in the shape

of a Wellington boot, about fin. long, six white-linen handkerchiefs, and a knitted white woollen shawl, 3ft. by 2ft. 6in., fringe on each end; value £lO 4s. 6d. Suspicion attached to Rebecca Edwards, who was employed as servant for a fortnight, and is now living with her father near Bay View Road, South Dunedin.

Timaru. —Stealing J. Hataley’s and B. C. Keving’s coats: Thomas Brown, alias Michael Cullen, one of the offenders, has been convicted at Dunedin under the name of James Brennan for another offence, and sentenced to three months’ labour. A further sentence of six months has been inflicted for the larcenies above referred to. Complainants’ names are now given as Joseph Heatley and R. C. Kenvig respectively.

Christchurch.— William Baillie, 184, Killmore Street, reports stolon from his laundry, on the 10th ultimo, a silver Geneva open-faced watch, number unknown, MM, &c., scratched on inside of case ; value £1 10s.
