Horse- and Cattle-Stealing.
Kemera Rangitiwiiiria is charged, on warrant issued by the Waipawa Bench, with the larceny as a bailee, at Hastings, on the sth ultimo, of a mare (recovered), the property of Tangata te Hapuku. (For his description, see Police Gazette, .1890, page 245.) When last seen was dressed in dark-corduroy trousers, light-tweed coat, long make, and hard brown hat. Offender obtained the loan of the mare for a few days, and sold her to B. B. Johnston, auctioneer, Waipawa, for £3. Is supposed to have gone, vid Tarawera, to Gisborne or Tolago Bay.
(See Police Gazette, 1891, pago 66.) John Bevins’s mare, supposed stolen at Hals well, Christchurch, has been found straying.
Te Wiiero, otherwise Hohepa, is charged, on warrant issued by the Auckland Bench, and indorsed by Thomas Jackson, Esq., R.M., with having, on the ,19th February last, near Woodlands, Waikato, stolen a bay gelding (recovered) ; value £lO ; the property of Frederick W. Littlcwood, Taupiri. Description : A Maori, about twenty-five years of age, about sft. Gin. high, stout build, black hair, black moustache only; generally well dressed in grey-tweed suit; speaks fairly good English. Is well known at Kawliia, Huntly, and Mercer, and frequents Bald Hill Native Settlement, on the Waikato River, opposite the latter township. Offender sold the horse on the 23rd February to William Biddle, at Mercer, for £4.

(See Police Gazette, 1891, page 103.) John Mcßae’s cow, supposed stolen at Ivaeo, Whangaroa, has been found dead in the bush.
Supposed stolen between the 26tli March last and Ist ultimo, from the farm of the owner, James Thomson, near Winton, Southland, about one hundred cross-bred ewes, branded (bar about sin. long) in black paint on near side; value Bs. each. Identifiable. Complainant guarantees a reward of 2s. per head for information of their whereabouts f. if strayed, or £2O on conviction of the person or persons who are supposed to have let them out of his paddock or stolen A them.

Re William Cameron, charged with larceny as bailee of Thomas Gilbert’s horse, saddle, &c., at Woodville: The/ warrant is made out for the arrest of Charles Cameron instead of William, as gazetted. Offender’s correct name is, however, Joseph Wiiite.
